Role Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Junior Analyst to join our Research team. This entry-level role is ideal for someone eager to break into financial analysis and learn from experienced professionals. The position is primarily in-office with remote flexibility for candidates based near our Baltimore office. In this role, you'll contribute to building and refining tools that help individual investors make smarter decisions. You will run portfolio backtests, generate performance reports, and support time-sensitive queries-all while gaining hands-on experience with industry tools and research methodologies. Key Responsibilities Run predefined strategy and portfolio backtests using internal tools Review output for accuracy and completeness Generate standardized performance reports with key metrics (returns, drawdowns, etc.) Conduct time-sensitive data queries using Snowflake and internal platforms Document usability issues and suggest improvements to internal tools Create and maintain reusable templates for recurring research needs Draft weekly summaries of analysis and insights Collaborate with senior analysts on larger research projects Qualifications Strong attention to detail and logical thinking Proficiency with Excel (lookups, filters, and formulas) Excellent written communication skills for documentation and reporting Eagerness to learn new tools (e.g., Snowflake, SQL, SuperSet, Optuma, Trade Navigator, Portfolio123) No prior experience with financial software required-training will be provided Intellectual curiosity and a methodical, problem-solving mindset Work Environment Primarily in office Flexibility to support meetings and collaborate with team members Ability to use standard office tools and participate in digital communication platforms Compensation Annual Salary: $60,000 commensurate with experience Bonus Eligible: Yes Our Benefits 401(k) plan with employer match Paid parking and public transportation benefits Company-paid fitness classes Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans Paid holidays and parental leave Company-paid disability and life insurance About Our Culture Alta is a collaborative and innovative team committed to creating impactful content and fostering professional growth.
