The Lead, Content Design role is responsible for overseeing the development and execution of visual assets across a range of communication channels. This role is part of the Strategy, Digital, and Program Measurement team within the Communications, Marketing, Government & Community Affairs (CMGCA) department. The position leads initiatives that support the organization's communication objectives through effective visual design, ensuring consistency with brand standards and alignment with strategic goals. Job Responsibilities: Senior Leadership and Team Collaboration
- Serve as a trusted creative partner for senior leadership (within the department and across the institution), providing strategic design direction for key initiatives and managing project intake
- Attend, participate and collaborate in strategic planning meetings to contribute design ideas, assets and ensure cohesive branding across cross-channel communication
- Collaborate with marketing, enterprise, media relations, and IT teams to ensure design strategies are anchored on solving problems and closely aligned with institutional goals
- Clearly articulate creative direction and design decisions to internal and external stakeholders
- Educate, inspire and motivate colleagues across the organization to help them understand, protect, and position the strongest creative ideas to stakeholders
Design Leadership
- Drive design conversations and contribute a strong design point of view in strategic planning meetings, ensuring cohesive branding and visual storytelling across all communication channels
- Design and develop high-quality cross-channel visual assets for websites, social media platforms, and other digital channels in collaboration with content leads
- Ensure that visual assets for cross channel content have a consistent presence, follow brand guidelines and are fit for platform
- Incorporate design and branding guidelines for cross channel assets in all formats as appropriate
- Ensure all visuals are compelling, brand-consistent, and optimized for digital platforms, utilizing the latest design software and technologies
- Foster inclusivity by representing diverse communities and cultures in visual assets, ensuring that the imagery and graphic elements reflect a broad spectrum of human experiences and identities, promoting a positive and inclusive brand image
Project Management
- Manage multiple design projects from concept through completion, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to deadlines
- Track project progress and provide regular updates to the Content Leads and other stakeholders
- Manage ad hoc high priority / urgent requests as they arise, while continuing to drive progress across other efforts
Executive Leadership Presentations
- Work directly with CMGCA leadership and Relationship Leads to develop creative and impactful internal and external presentations (primarily in PPT) for NYU Langone Health executives (examples include conferences, thought leadership opportunities, large internal meetings)
- Adhere to brand guidelines while infusing creativity and imagination to bring the institutions purpose, mission and values to life.
Institutional Initiative and Internal Web Design Support
- Create graphics and other collateral materials to support key internal/employee communications initiatives that reinforce the NYU Langone Health brand and its culture of exceptionalism
- Create graphics for Inside Health (NYU Langone Healths intranet) to accompany stories/programs as needed
User Experience Enhancement
- Collaborate on visual elements that enhance the user experience on digital platforms, focusing on usability, navigation, and aesthetic appeal
- Test graphic elements across different platforms and devices to ensure optimal performance and user engagement prior to publishing
- Incorporate user feedback and usability testing results into new designs to improve functionality and user satisfaction
- Implement accessible design practices to ensure that visual assets are perceivable, operable, and understandable for all users; using appropriate color contrasts, alt text for images, and scalable vector graphics that are accessible to screen readers
Innovation and Trends
- Stay abreast of the latest trends in digital design and technology, applying cutting-edge techniques to projects where appropriate
- Experiment with new tools and techniques to push the boundaries of digital design within the organization
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Digital Media, Graphic Design, or a related field
- 7 years of relevant experience in graphic design, web design, or a closely related field (with 3-5 years in motion/animation)
- Ability to translate business goals into design strategies
- Proven experience working with C-Suite and/or Executive Leadership
- Strong design and typography skills, a clean aesthetic, and an ability to create and innovate within brand guidelines, including PPT
- A 360-degree approach to design, with the ability to envision a project with assets that scale and move seamlessly across channels
- Experience leading a team of designers as well as demonstrated success collaborating within a cross-functional team
- Exceptional presentation skills to articulate design concepts to non-design stakeholders
- Ownership of projects from start to finish, with openness to feedback and adaptability to new ideas and processes
- An online portfolio that is largely digital-first and includes motion work demonstrating a range of projects, techniques, and skills
- Ability to interpret analytics for content performance and apply insights to design
- Portfolio: season experience including design for Social/Instagram Stories; Design for Digital Signage/Media Walls; Motion graphic/animation/Motion GIFs/Digital Sticker Design; Design specific to email
- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills that are expressive, accurate, and engaging
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience partnering with writers and editors and strategizing to make visuals drive a story
- Experience in the healthcare industry is a plus
