Here is how the Geohazard Engineer role will impact our business: The Geohazard Engineer II will be work within EQT's Midstream Engineering Services team. This position will be responsible for the geotechnical aspects related to the development, installation, and maintenance of natural gas and water pipelines. This position will include a heavy emphasis on landslide mitigation for new construction and landslide repair on existing assets. The role will include technical support of landslide mitigation efforts on new construction, including mitigation plan review and technical field support during installation. Technical support related to landslide remediation will include design of landslide repair plans and managing external third-party design efforts. The Geohazard Engineer II responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Provide technical expertise on the geological and geotechnical aspects of new pipeline projects, including preparation and review of landslide mitigation plans.
- Field review and document potential new geohazards identified by company personnel and by remote sensing (e.g., LiDAR).
- Support Operations and Construction personnel to effectively remediate geohazards, especially landslides and mine subsidence, occurring on existing assets and active construction projects.
- Maintain and improve design and construction standards.
- Assist in the maintenance of EQT's GIS geohazards tracking database.
Required Experience and Skills:
- 2+ years' experience of related oil and gas pipeline geohazards experience.
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related engineering degree.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Proficient computer skills including the MS suite of products and computer-aided drafting (CAD) software.
- Ability to contribute in a team environment and as an individual contributor.
- Effective communication skills in both oral and written form, including technical writing.
- Knowledge of intermediate engineering concepts, fundamentals and theory.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret geotechnical engineering reports and construction drawings.
- Ability to think analytically and solve moderately complex problems.
- Ability to travel up to 75% of time to field locations within southwestern Pennsylvania, north-central Werst Virginia, and eastern Ohio, with flexible work hours inclusive of weekends and holidays.
- Ability to physically navigate steep slopes on pipeline rights-of-way.
Preferred Experience:
- I.T. license in PA, WV, and/or OH.
Selected incumbent will be placed into the position that best suits their abilities and experience level.
