Central City Concern is seeking a dedicated CADC SUDs Counselor to join our integrated, trauma-informed team at our residential treatment facility in the heart of Portland. This is more than a counseling job; it's an opportunity to support individuals with severe substance use disorders through every step of their recovery journey.

In this role, you'll be a vital part of a multidisciplinary team addressing the full spectrum of client needs: substance use and mental health treatment, crisis response, medical care, and housing navigation. You'll deliver group and individual counseling, conduct assessments, create collaborative treatment plans, and walk alongside clients as they build stability, wellness, and hope.

What We're Looking For:



  • CADC-R, CADC I, II, or III
  • Strong knowledge of Motivational Interviewing, DBT, and trauma-informed practices
  • Experience in residential treatment is highly preferred
  • Passion for client-centered care in a highly collaborative environment

Compensation:



  • CADC-R: $23.36 - $30.37
  • CADC-1: $25.76 - $33.49
  • CADC-2 or 3: $28.40 - $36.92


Location: 16th & Burnside
Schedule: Monday - Friday (8:00am - 5:00pm)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Must have one of the following :


    • CADC-R
    • CADC-1
    • CADC-2
    • CADC-3


  • Residential treatment experience, with similar populations, HIGHLY preferred.
  • Must have professional-level knowledge and skills in counseling techniques with individuals and groups.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of resources to enhance client treatment.
  • Must have knowledge of de-escalation, Motivational Interviewing, DBT and other best practices in residential treatment, and a demonstrated ability to put these principles into practice.
  • Must have High School Diploma or GED, advanced degree preferred.
  • Valid driver's license preferred. If required to drive, must pass a DMV background check, and be designated an "acceptable" driver as outlined in Central City Concern's Fleet Safety Policy. If required to drive, must pass an initial driver's training within 60 days of being an approved driver and continued recertification training.
  • Must be able to work as on-call counselor by cell phone one week on rotation basis with other counselors.
  • Must meet CCC privileging requirements as required by FTCA.
  • Have, or able to obtain, Adult CPR prior to start date.
  • Must have current Adult First Aid Certification prior to start date.
  • Ability to adhere to Central City Concern's drug-free workplace which encourages a safe, healthy and productive work environment and strictly complies with the Drug-Free Work Place Ace of 1988. An employee shall not, in the workplace, unlawfully manufacture, distribute, dispense, possess or use a controlled substance or alcohol.
  • Will be required to carry an agency cell phone for work use. Cell phone to be provided by Central City Concern.
  • Must generally have the ability to walk, bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, reach, pull and lift heavy objects, and climb stairs with reasonable or no accommodation.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, TB test, and background check. This includes clearance by the DHS Background Check Unit.
  • The OAR prohibits A&D program staff from having within the previous 3 years a DUI conviction or diversion, a felony conviction, or a conviction under the Uniform Controlled Substances Act.

  • Ability to effectively interact with co-workers and clients with diverse ethnic backgrounds, religious views, cultural backgrounds, lifestyles, and sexual orientations, and treat each individual with respect and dignity.



          ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



          • Conduct and document substance use disorder assessments ASAM level of care, substance use disorder DSM diagnosis, and clinical formulation.
          • Develop strengths-based treatment plan and maintain treatment plan updates in collaboration with client.
          • Work with a diverse team, including professional and para-professional staff, to develop and implement client-centered care.
          • Participate in clinical staff meetings and case conferences with team members in order to utilize interdisciplinary expertise and facilitate individual service plans for clients.
          • Share recovery expertise by working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary treatment team, modeling integrated treatment skills, and evidence-based principles and practice.
          • Support clients in accessing off-site appointments and collaboration meetings as necessary, to include court appearances and DHS family decision meetings.
          • Participate in direct treatment of clients by:
          • Attending clinical staff meetings and case conferences
          • Providing group counseling to clients on a daily basis
          • Providing one-on-one counseling sessions.
          • Facilitate substance use treatment groups for clients, including addiction as a disease process, recovery skills, Trauma Informed Care components, and life skills.
          • Assess, triage and respond to client crisis in the most effective, efficient, and safe manner possible.
          • Participate in evaluating clients for risk of harm.
          • Monitor and assure the health and safety needs of clients are met.
          • Quickly and accurately assess the needs of individual clients and potential barriers to service.
          • Utilize Motivational Interviewing and trauma-informed treatment modalities to identify stages of change and develop corresponding stage wise treatment strategies.
          • Maintain client records as required by State, Federal, local and program standards and funding requirements.
          • Works within scope of training and experience and seeks consultation when appropriate.
          • Participate in regular supervision from the Clinical Supervisor, seeking additional supervision whenever necessary. Minimum requirement two hours of documented supervision per month.
          • Collaborate with partnering agencies, including DHS Child Welfare and the Department of Justice.
          • Coordinate services with all members of client's support network.
          • Participate in training opportunities to advance skills and knowledge in substance use disorders.
          • Participate in quality assurance and quality improvement activities as directed.
          • Assist with the development of an integrated treatment program.
          • Attend all mandatory CCC trainings in a timely manner.
          • Adhere to all state and federal privacy regulations, including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2, and to CCC policies and agreements regarding confidentiality, privacy, and security. Support compliance with all privacy and security requirements pursuant to community partners' and outside providers' patient confidentiality agreements, including privacy and security requirements for EMR access. This includes immediately reporting any breach of protected health information or personal identification information of any person receiving CCC services by CCC or an outside provider to the CCC Compliance Department, as well as to your supervisor or their designee.
          • Perform other duties as assigned.

          • Ability to work courteously and effectively communicate with the general public, clients, medical personnel, corrections personnel, police, and co-workers.
          • Ability to maintain accurate records and necessary paperwork.
          • Knowledge of de-escalation methods.
