Job Summary

The primary purpose of this position is to provide clinical leadership, quality assurance and program development to clinical, training and consultation programs within a mental health program. This includes clinical supervision, program development, managing resources, participating in staff evaluations, and assisting in the implementation of quality assurance and evaluation measures for services. It may also include carrying out a limited caseload of direct service cases. Organizing and facilitating team meetings, identifying training needs and coordinating training for clinical staff are also key elements of the position.

Supervises staff involved in providing behavioral health services to patients with serious mental health disorders. Patient care may be provided by a combination of licensed clinicians, as well as counselors and crisis intervention specialists. Assists in ensuring the quality of treatment delivery. Assists with the administration and management of personnel, fiscal, and material resources.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $115,500 - $173,300 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

Behavioral health care services at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland emphasize a collaborative family centered approach and interface with all systems of care that serve children birth to 21. With $22 million in services, grants, and contracts, our mental health and developmental services are provided in the hospital setting, local schools, community-based settings and homes. We are committed to delivering culturally accountable, evidence based, and trauma informed behavioral health care to the children in our community, including those with the highest risk and need, and those who are marginalized or underserved. Behavioral health care services encompass 17 service-based programs and 135 multidisciplinary staff, with an aim to be the premier behavioral health care institution for children in northern California, with proficiency in clinical care, training, research and evaluation and policy.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related area
• Masters in Mental Health field, nursing, social work, psychology, counseling or related
• Licensed in the state of California as a Clinical Psychologist, Clinical Social Worker, or Marriage and Family Therapist
• Medical Staff Membership for Licensed Psychologists.
• At least three years' experience in clinical work providing individual and group counseling
• At least one year's experience in project coordination or management
• At least one year's experience in organizational system planning
• Demonstrated familiarity with complex organizational models and structures required.
• Demonstrated excellence in communication skills, verbal and written, and in group process facilitation and meeting organization.
• Position requires significant interpersonal skills with co-workers and with client families in varied settings including office, client's homes and in the community.
• Position requires ability to work independently, organize tasks, solve problems, make decisions and handle multiple priorities.
• Demonstrated supervisory skills to guide behavioral health providers on treatment methods for serious mental health disorders.
• An ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and execute plans to meet deadlines.
• Ability to ensure patient care service standards are consistently met; assist staff with managing challenging patient interactions with sensitivity and skill.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of psychiatric service operations and ability to apply concepts in an acute care setting.
• Knowledge of medical center, HR and UC policies and processes. Knowledge of relevant psychiatric health services, internal policies and external regulations.
• Working knowledge of human resources management practices and policies.
• Knowledge of business software, specialized applications and EHR systems used in behavioral health clinics / clinical departments.
• Ability to perform all commonly applicable functions in word processing and spreadsheet software. Comprehensive knowledge of organization's patient record system to teach others.
• Experience with treatment of children across the lifespan (0-21)
• Proven experience with trauma informed systems. Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Epic experience

License/Certification

• Licensed in the state of California as a Clinical Psychologist, Clinical Social Worker, or Marriage and Family Therapist.
• Medical Staff Membership for Licensed Psychologists.
