Job Description:

  • Employment and Training is seeking a Temporary Computer Instructor to provide in-person digital literacy instruction to adult participants in Morris County and contribute to the ongoing development and refinement of curriculum used in Digital Foundations Training programs across a five-county region.
  • The position supports a grant-funded initiative to increase digital access and workforce readiness for participants in the Work First New Jersey (WFNJ) program.


Role & Responsibilities:

  • Deliver a 4-week, 8-session Digital Foundations Training in person at Morris County training sites.
  • Teach foundational topics including.
  • Computer Basics and Internet Navigation.
  • Cybersecurity and Online Safety.
  • Email and Digital Communication Tools.
  • Microsoft Office 365 Essentials.
  • Google Workspace Proficiency.
  • Online Job Search and Workforce Tools.
  • Workforce and Career Readiness.
  • Supplemental Workshops (as needed).
  • Online Learning Platforms & Self-Paced Tools.
  • Intro to Emerging Technologies and AI Awareness.
  • Provide individualized support to adult learners with varying levels of digital literacy, including first-time users.
  • Track participant attendance and report outcomes.
  • Collaborate with Norwescap instructional staff to review and improve curriculum materials.
  • Share best practices and adapt training content for consistency and effectiveness across all counties.
  • Support delivery of materials or documentation used by other instructors in Hunterdon, Somerset, Sussex, and Warren counties.
  • Ensure a supportive, inclusive classroom environment for all learners.


Required Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching digital skills to adults, preferably in workforce, adult education, or nonprofit settings.
  • Solid knowledge of basic computer operations and common software platforms.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly and with patience.
  • Experience working with economically or educationally disadvantaged populations a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel to training sites within Morris County.
  • Spanish language skills preferred but not required.


Working Conditions:

  • Temporary, grant-funded position.
  • In-person instruction in Morris County.
  • Occasional virtual meetings or collaboration to support program-wide curriculum delivery.
  • May include flexible hours based on class schedules.
