  • Estimated annual base pay: $80,000 (minimum) - $100,000 (midpoint) - $120,000 (maximum) Plus shift differential (2nd Shift)

This position is for a 2nd shift (2:30 - 11:30pm) Operations Supervisor - Quality who will lead a team of Quality Engineers, QA Technicians, and support our outside calibration services across two of our Rockford plants; RCC and LPC. The candidate should possess prior experience in a Quality or similar function. Six Sigma Green Belt, RCCA, or ASQ certification preferred. Key Responsibilities:
  • Shift Management and Coordination: Oversee shift transitions by reviewing prior shift pass down notes to address any escalations or risks related to members, methods, materials, and machinery. Set daily priorities by identifying and communicating priority work orders and addressing immediate issues. Ensure effective communication with team leads regarding call-offs, vacations, and aligning the team with daily objectives.
  • Performance Monitoring and Quality Assurance: Track safety, quality, and delivery metrics by monitoring daily build rates, turnaround times, and production goals, taking necessary actions to address deviations. Support quality systems by reviewing and processing non-conformance reports, quality notifications, and corrective actions. Conduct regular Gemba walks at start, post-lunch, and end of shifts to monitor the value stream's health, ensure materials and machinery are in place, and verify adherence to safety protocols.
  • Team Development and Support: Provide leadership and coaching by recognizing team contributions, guiding performance and attendance, and supporting professional development and level progression readiness. Hold regular one-on-one meetings with team members to discuss progress towards performance goals, readiness for progression, and address concerns. Address team member needs by following up on requests and ensuring their concerns are promptly managed.
  • Escalation and Issue Resolution: Manage escalations by ensuring no ANDON signals are left unaddressed and that assigned issues are actively worked on or resolved and communication back to the team. Resolve issues promptly by acting on escalations as required, maintaining continuous operation, and communicating the status of these issues during shift pass downs.
  • Administrative and Workforce Management: Handle workforce duties by reviewing and approving or denying time off requests, completing correction requests, and reviewing errors affecting operations. Assess and communicate overtime needs by reviewing performance metrics and work in progress, determining overtime requirements, and informing team members of the plan. Manage staffing needs by updating training records, assessing staffing requirements, conducting interviews, managing certifications, and planning capacity to ensure the team has the necessary skills and depth to meet operational demands.

  • Performance Monitoring: Ability to track and analyze key performance metrics related to safety, quality, and delivery, and take necessary actions to meet goals.
  • Gemba Walks: Proficiency in conducting Gemba walks to monitor the health of the value stream, ensure materials and machinery are in place, and verify adherence to safety protocols.
  • Administrative Skills: Competence in handling administrative tasks such as reviewing time off requests, completing correction requests, reviewing and approving timecards, disciplinary action and managing training records.
  • Workforce Planning: Skill in assessing staffing needs, conducting interviews, managing certifications, and planning for capacity to ensure optimal team performance.
  • Attention to Detail: Keen attention to detail to ensure all aspects of operations, from shift pass downs to quality actions, are meticulously managed and documented.
