Rockland Trust is seeking a highly skilled and technically proficient Lead Business Analyst/Data Steward to join our Loan Operations team. This role is ideal for an experienced professional who brings deep expertise in business analysis, loan operations, and data governance.

The successful candidate will serve as a critical liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring loan-related systems and processes are efficient, scalable, and compliant. Additionally, this individual will serve as the data steward for loan operations-responsible for defining, managing, and ensuring the quality and integrity of key data assets.

This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced banking environment and is passionate about solving operational problems through data and process optimization.

Key Responsibilities

Business Analysis



  • Lead cross functional project teams implementing process or system changes meeting deadlines and defined success criteria
  • Lead end-to-end analysis of loan operations processes to identify inefficiencies, gaps, and opportunities for automation and improvement.
  • Gather, analyze, and translate complex business requirements into functional and technical specifications.
  • Collaborate with Product, Technology, Risk, Compliance, and Operational teams to design and implement system enhancements or new solutions.
  • Support change management efforts including UAT planning and execution, training, and documentation.
  • Drive reporting, dashboards, and data analysis to inform decision-making and performance monitoring within Loan Operations.
  • Serve as SME on loan data flows, systems integrations, and process dependencies across the loan lifecycle.


Data Stewardship



  • Own the stewardship of loan operations data, ensuring data definitions, standards, and policies are consistently applied and adhered to across systems.
  • Develop and maintain data dictionaries, lineage documentation, and metadata for loan-related data elements.
  • Conduct proactive data quality assessments and partner with business and technology teams to resolve anomalies or integrity issues.
  • Participate in the bank's data governance program, representing Loan Operations in working groups or data councils.
  • Ensure loan data complies with internal controls and external regulatory reporting requirements (e.g., HMDA, CRA, FDIC).
  • Partner with data engineering and analytics teams to improve data architecture and support enterprise reporting needs.


Required Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Information Systems, or related field; Master's degree a plus.
  • 5+ years of business analysis experience in financial services, with a strong focus on loan operations or lending systems.
  • Deep understanding of banking operations and loan servicing systems. Fiserv and nCino experience a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with data analysis tools (e.g., SQL, Power BI, Alteryx, Excel) and process mapping (e.g., Visio, Lucidchart).
  • Proven ability to bridge business and technical stakeholders with strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in a data stewardship, data quality, or governance role.
  • Strong communication and problem solving skills.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Working knowledge of regulatory frameworks (e.g., HMDA, CRA, BCBS 239).
  • Experience with Agile project methodologies and tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence).
  • Certifications such as DCAM, CBAP, CDMP, PMP, or Lean Six Sigma are highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with data governance platforms and master data management (MDM) tools.
