The Procurement Manager will lead and oversee all procurement activities across our terminals in Port Elizabeth, NJ, ensuring the efficient and cost-effective acquisition of services, inventory, supplies, and capital goods. This pivotal role involves negotiating favorable terms, maintaining compliance with corporate procurement policies and sustainability standards, and building strategic supplier relationships.

As the head of the Procurement team, the Procurement Manager is responsible for optimizing purchasing processes, evaluating and selecting vendors, and advising senior terminal management on procurement strategies and reporting practices to enhance operational efficiency and financial performance. The role also ensures adherence to global procurement guidelines, Finance Control Manual policies, and Responsible Procurement standards to strengthen governance and mitigate risks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead procurement operations to ensure timely and cost-effective purchasing of services, inventory, supplies, and capital equipment.
  • Oversee the tender process, including receiving and evaluating bids, coordinating evaluation committees, and selecting suppliers based on defined criteria.
  • Negotiate optimal terms for pricing, delivery, credit, and after-sales support while maintaining compliance with company policies and global procurement standards.
  • Analyze market trends, supplier capabilities, and risk factors to prepare annual sourcing strategy plans and anticipate local requirements.
  • Prepare and review monthly procurement reports and purchasing forecasts with senior management to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Maintain and strengthen vendor relationships, ensuring consistent quality, service, and competitive pricing.
  • Oversee preparation of RFQs, RFPs, and related documents, and manage the evaluation and selection of suppliers.
  • Collaborate closely with inventory management teams to align consumption forecasts and maintain optimal stock levels, preventing downtime in terminal operations.
  • Ensure contracts are prepared and finalized in collaboration with legal counsel and in compliance with corporate guidelines.
  • Drive implementation of Responsible Procurement and corporate COMMIT rules to mitigate fraud and liability risks.
  • Monitor and report key procurement performance metrics (KPIs) to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop and train the Procurement team and supply chain colleagues, enhancing procurement maturity and capability across the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate Procurement Standards, Finance Control Manual policies, and sustainability requirements.

What we're looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, international trade, or a related field (engineering coursework a plus).
  • Minimum of five years' experience in procurement or inventory management within a large international company, preferably in shipping, transportation, or a related industry.
  • At least two years leading procurement teams, including remote teams; union environment experience is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of customs laws, regulations, and procedures.
  • Advanced negotiation skills and the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in enterprise purchasing software (e.g., IFS) and sourcing tools (e.g., Keelvar, Ariba).
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to extract, compile, and interpret complex data.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English; Spanish is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of finance and accounting principles to effectively control budgets and costs.

Job Type: Full Time

Salary: USD 120,000.00 to USD 130,000.00

The above stated pay range is the anticipated starting salary range for this position. The Company may adjust this range in light of prevailing market conditions and other factors such as location. The Company will work directly with the selected candidate(s) on the final starting salary in accordance with all applicable laws
