National Account Sales Director

Summary

Plug Power is transforming the energy landscape with cutting-edge hydrogen and fuel cell solutions, and we're looking for a high-performing sales leader to join us. As National Account Sales Director, you'll play a key role in accelerating the adoption of our GenKey systems by identifying, engaging, and converting new business opportunities in the material handling sector.

This role is ideal for a strategic, results-driven professional with a strong track record in outside sales and a passion for innovation. You'll lead with curiosity, build trust with key stakeholders, and drive long-term partnerships that fuel growth for both Plug Power and our customers.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities through cold calling, networking, site visits, and industry engagement
  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans to meet and exceed revenue goals
  • Build and manage a strong pipeline of qualified prospects using a variety of sourcing tools and techniques
  • Leverage LinkedIn and other digital platforms to research prospects, generate leads, and build meaningful business relationships
  • Lead prospects through the full sales cycle-understanding customer needs, communicating Plug Power's hydrogen and GenKey value proposition, and closing deals
  • Utilize resources such as product trials, site tours, ROI models, and stakeholder meetings to influence buying decisions
  • Maintain accurate records of all sales activity and customer interactions in CRM software
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure seamless onboarding, delivery, and ongoing customer satisfaction
  • Manage and expand existing customer accounts by developing long-term growth strategies and resolving issues
  • Provide accurate sales forecasts and market feedback to inform internal planning and innovation
  • Stay current on market conditions, industry trends, and competitive landscape to support sales strategy

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, marketing, business, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience with proven track record of success in outside sales, particularly in new business development.
  • Strong hunter mentality with a passion for prospecting, building pipelines, and closing deals
  • Experience with CRM tools such as Salesforce or HubSpot is a plus
  • Ability to travel as needed to fulfill project requirements (up to 25%)
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated business acumen with ability to articulate value statements in meaningful ways to diverse audiences and stakeholders

Pay Rate:

$124,500.00 - $199,200.00
