Job Title: Senior Engineer Location: Washington DC Clearance Required: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance Overview: We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Engineer to lead the engineering efforts , supporting all aspects of performance, cost, and schedule across all phases of design and development. This role requires deep technical knowledge and strong leadership capabilities to manage engineering tasks, deliverables, and program goals in collaboration with the Program Manager and PEO IWS 9.0. Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the engineering lead for technology programs, overseeing design, development, cost control, performance metrics, and schedule adherence.
Provide expert technical knowledge, recommendations, and structured process improvements across system lifecycle efforts.
Collaborate with the Program Manager to plan, execute, and deliver all program requirements.
Direct the activities of engineering personnel, assign tasks based on specialization, and ensure timely execution of engineering deliverables.
Lead technical briefings, engineering meetings, and milestone reviews, including Risk Reviews, Test Readiness Reviews, Lessons Learned, and Requirements Reviews.
Guide software development integration, analyze architectural limitations, and document hardware, systems, and software requirements.
Prepare detailed schedules, resolve technical challenges, and ensure continuous alignment with project goals and deadlines.
Support full lifecycle development and modernization efforts for operational Navy systems.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field
10-15 years of professional engineering experience, preferably in naval systems or large-scale defense programs
Strong background in design, development, and life cycle management of complex engineering systems
Proven leadership experience in directing engineering teams and managing cross-functional efforts
Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Engineering
Experience supporting NAVSEA or PEO IWS programs
Familiarity with structured engineering development processes and DoD acquisition environments
The salary for this position is likely $100,000 - $140,000. Salary ranges are not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
