The Environmental Technician (Mechanical) is primarily responsible for maintaining all chemical water equipment used to properly treat the Chilled Water System. The technician will work with the subcontractor to ensure all equipment is maintained according to manufacturer's specification. The technician will be the first responder to emergency calls. As the first responder the technician shall be able to mitigate the emergency situation and make minor repairs to the Chemical System equipment. The technician will ensure proper disposal of the project's waste and ensuring that the project is in compliance with all Federal, State, and Local Environmental Regulations. The work may involve inspections, filling out government paperwork, sampling wastes and materials and monitoring tradesmen and contractors performing project activities in all assigned facilities. The incumbent will maintain the CFC program as directed by the Contract. The Mechanic will properly train employees on CFC regulations to ensure the Company adheres to all Federal, State and Local regulations. The Mechanic will provide technical support on related equipment.

Work Model: Onsite/Office-based

Pay Rate: $38.85

• Performs preventative maintenance on all chemical water equipment to include changing filters, replacing filter socks, and general house keeping
• Performs daily tours of the chemical water treatment equipment and ensure all logs are completed
• Makes minor repairs to piping serving the chemical water treatment system
• Assist subcontractor on routine services to include adding chemical to the tank as needed
• Attend weekly progress meetings
• Maintain an accurate inventory count to ensure all chemicals are readily available
• Responds to emergencies and capable of the stabilizing the system until the subcontractor arrives
• Assists with performing surveys, sampling and analysis of chemical water.
• Assists in the installation and operation of chemical water treatment equipment used to monitor air and water contaminants. Install equipment such as Webmasters.
• Assists in the review of technical documents for completeness and conformance to requirements; prepares routine correspondence and reports; maintains computer program files and produces routine reports as directed by the Facility Supervisor.
• Read software reports used to monitor the chemical equipment.
• Ensures compliance with Safety Procedures through inspections, training and evaluations.
• Conducts safety training on a variety of systems and regulatory requirements.
• Assist to create a detailed Scope of Work for any tank related service request.
• Plans, organizes work, and meets required deadlines.
• Adheres to established company safety and personnel policies and standard operating procedures.
• May operate Government or Wolf Creek owned motor vehicles and/or other equipment.
• Supports other departmental staff as needed or directed.
• Ability to work overtime as needed
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Maintain an accurate record of the inventory of refrigerants in the Refrigerant Tracking Program.
• Maintain an accurate inventory on the identified Log at the Refrigerant Shed.
• Controls the Refrigerant Bottle Labels when issuing and disposing of refrigerant cylinders.
• Keeps track of the refrigerant bottles assigned to Qualified Technicians.
• Develops and submits the Quarterly Refrigerant Management Report (Leak Report).
• Orders refrigerant; returns large empty bottles to the vendor and/or disposes of the small bottles.

• High school graduate or equivalent GED.
• Two (2) years in related work in water treatment
• Knowledgeable of the components of the chemical water treatment equipment
• Demonstrate experience working in a service and maintenance position in the HVAC field in refrigerant competencies related to the essential job duties.
• Possess and maintain a Universal CFC Certification.
• Proficient in all aspects of CFC Regulations and Requirements.
• Ability to train and monitor co-workers in regards to CFC Regulations and Requirements Thorough knowledge of refrigeration, chillers, HVAC, pneumatics, steam, condensate systems.
• HAZWOPPER Certified or able to obtain certification in six (6) months
• Good understanding of PLC's, computer programs and other monitoring software
• Familiarity with applicable codes and standards.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel).
• Able to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner.
• Able to work varying shifts as required by the specific project.
• Able to perform assigned work tasks with minimal supervision.
• Able to pass pre-hire background and drug screen.
• U.S. Citizen.
• Ability to obtain and maintain the required intelligence community level clearance.
• Possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.
• Able to lift 50 pounds and team lift 75 pounds.
