Job Description Summary: The Account Executive achieves specified retention goal on assigned territory while also supporting a Sales Consultant to achieve retention goals in a shared territory. Develops and executes strategies to maintain and manage a specific number of assigned accounts (complex to most complex) and to direct the management of these accounts in a manner that promotes an excellent level of service and renewal of these accounts year over year. Responsible for cross-selling assigned product lines to defined Small groups. Acts as a liaison between accounts, brokers, and the company to help resolve service issues and related inquiries. Client Service Management:

  • Develops and executes account specific service plan to ensure we are working collaboratively with brokers and group executives to meet common objectives.
  • Executes all phases of the renewal contract completion both internally and externally.
  • Develops and maintains a detailed knowledge base of assigned customer, beyond the traditional healthcare-focused information/knowledge, to become an extension of the customer's business.
  • Establishes, cultivates and manages relationships with consultants and brokers, recognizing the value they bring to our customer
  • Delivers value to customer including plan performance, account management and service results
  • Establishes, cultivates and manages the customer relationship at multiple levels, serving as a healthcare consultant and trusted business advisor to the customer
  • Plans and meets with customers, strategically identifying trends and offering solutions.
  • Handles special projects and tasks as assigned by management.
  • Provides support with product presentations to customers and brokers as needed.
  • Coordinates with multiple vendors to ensure successful implementation for new and renewal business (e.g., vision, pharmacy, wellness and stop/loss)

Renewals and New Business:

  • Retains accounts in accordance with divisional goals and objectives
  • Manages assigned account renewals and develops strategies to renew accounts
  • Sells ancillary products in accordance with established goals and objectives.
  • Prepares the strategic retention and growth plan for assigned customer, in conjunction with Underwriting partner.
  • Provides support with product presentations to customers and brokers as needed.
  • Negotiates financial discussions and influence the interactions and relationships with customer, their broker/consultant and internal team members to achieve strategic renewal goals
  • Provides recommendations based on client objectives based on an understanding of all financial funding options
  • Explains all services and products offered and available. Financial, wellness, consumer driven products, Enrollment process, and Communication support
  • Serves as liaison for all vendors integrated in client's health plan
  • Maintains and updates knowledge of industry trends and marketplace. Shares information with other team members

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree business, marketing, communications, or other relevant academic discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3 years' related experience in health insurance sales/retention.
  • Thorough knowledge of health insurance principles, practices, and products.
  • Proven excellent written and verbal communication, presentation and organization skills; especially while handling multiple assignments, and/or projects simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Advanced keyboard skills (typing, computer entry).
  • Must possess a State Life/Health Insurance license in both Missouri and Kansas, or be able to obtain one within 60 days of hire.
