Job Summary:

Be part of the team at Messer that is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our air separation plant fleet from our central control room located in Bethlehem, PA. The Lead Operations Center Production Engineer is directly responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of Messer's ASU fleet including production planning, efficiency monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement. Work in a collaborative environment, solve real world problems, and help us maintain our supply of Gases for Life to our customers.

Principal Responsibilities:

While the Lead Operations Center production engineer may still have daily front line responsibilities for some plants, they have a greater focus on continuous improvement and higher priority plant issues. They also support the entire fleet of ASU plants when required. Responsibilities include:



  • Performance Optimization
  • Coordinating the production/operation plan with supply chain
  • Establishing the lowest cost power management plan with supply chain and energy services
  • Drive resolution of identified issues with the site and support teams
  • Drive proactive plant health monitoring
  • Drive continuous improvement in the areas of process safety, reliability and efficiency
  • On call support for the ROC operator team
  • Actively support the training and capability development of other ROC engineers
  • Key interface with the project execution team on new plant projects
  • Automation and improvement of day-to-day work processes of the ROC engineers

Basic Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in a suitable engineering discipline
  • Minimum of ten years of experience in process operations / engineering with five years of experience directly related to air separation plants.
