This role will provide functional and operational oversight at the Director level for the Capacity Coordination Center. The role is also responsible for hospital and system-wide capacity monitoring, in an effort to maximize capacity utilization, mitigate bottlenecks, and drive real-time interventions and solutions to facilitate the safest and most effective movement of patients throughout the UVA Health System.
- Provides operational oversight to the business units of system-wide Patient Placement (Bed Center/Transfer Center), Medcom, Discharge Transportation Coordination, and ALS/BLS Ground Transport. Oversight will focus on daily operations, as well as ongoing performance improvement and customer service excellence.
- Communicates capacity status and opportunities/challenges across the system in near-real-time, allowing for leaders and key stakeholders to optimize decision making to deliver safe patient care
- Establishes and maintains transparent policies, protocols, and priorities, in collaboration with operational, nursing, and physician leadership across the system to achieve efficient and effective patient placement and movement.
- Remains proactively aware and current on operational advancements in the field of patient flow coordination and movement, in order to remain on the innovative edge of service delivery.
- Collaborates with IT and analytics colleagues to advance abilities in data display and transparency, allowing for the most impactful delivery of real-time data around capacity utilization, opportunities, and challenges.
- Leads cross-departmental and multi-disciplinary efforts to produce quantifiable results, measured against determined metrics and performance indicators, to achieve effective patient flow and excellent customer service within the various operational call centers.
- Maintains strong collaborative relationships between clinical and operational stakeholders, both within UVA Medical Center, as well as within our partner affiliates. Liaises with external customers and stakeholders around customer service performance, and opportunities to enhance the transfer and transport experience from the referring perspective.
- Recruits, motivates, develops, and retains a diverse, high-performing workforce. Works collaboratively to establish criteria for recruitment, retention, high-level employee engagement, and active team member involvement in the advancement of the Center and its staff/operations.
- Actively participates in review and resolution of patient and customer concerns, and complaints, to achieve service excellence at the highest level.
- Supports continual improvement in operational services within a cost-effective environment in collaboration with other leaders within UVA Health. Identifies quality improvement initiatives and oversees implementation in order to improve services, Foster multidisciplinary approach to quality improvement work with focus on improving coordination of services.
- Functions as an integral member of the Medical Center leadership team. Participates in the organization's decision-making structures and processes in order to ensure delivery of appropriate services to patients. Participates with key Medical Center and Health System leaders in developing, reviewing, and ensuring that the UVA Health mission, strategic and operational plans, budgets, resource allocation, and policies are carried out.

Position Compensation Range: $104,894.40 - $167,835.20 Annual
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in health care, business, or leadership-related field required. Master's Degree in healthcare, business, or related field preferred
- Experience: 5 years operational leadership experience in a large healthcare organization required.
- License/Certification: None required; RN license or Paramedic certification preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
