Role Summary

The US Tax Manager will have a primary focus on all US income tax matters and be responsible for leading the US and Canada indirect tax compliance function, ensuring strategic alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements. A key contributor collaborating directly with internal stakeholders as well as external advisors, to ensure accurate and timely tax reporting, account reconciliations and other tax accounting tasks. This role will also drive technology projects to streamline and continuously improve compliance processes.

Core Duties/Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Responsible for maintaining all workpapers supporting CFC /FDE inclusions within the US 1120

  • Lead and drive the coordination and preparation of U.S. federal, state, & local income tax return filings, extensions, and payments

  • Work closely with the finance, payroll, IT, and other departments to gather, analyze, and review information required for tax filings and reporting. Effective communication will be essential to ensure that all data is properly aligned

  • Responsible for US and Canada indirect tax matters including compliance, documentation, audit defense, & reserve analysis for EQ and its affiliates, partnering closely with dedicated, internal resources in our Center of Excellence (CoE) in India to ensure seamless coordination and execution of key initiatives including monthly transactional tax reporting and account reconciliations to ensure compliance with internal controls

  • Ensure that all tax filing deadlines are met in compliance with the Company's tax calendar

  • Own all responses to tax notices and tax authorities during audits and inquiries

  • Drive the review and improvement of tax compliance processes to enhance efficiency. This includes owning improvements to data gathering and reporting procedures in both U.S. and non-U.S. contexts

  • Co-lead special projects, including planning initiatives, process improvements, audit support, and tax technology implementation

Skills, Capabilities and Attributes

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following experience, skills and behaviors:

  • CPA and/or MST preferred

  • Significant relevant direct tax (1120) and CFC/FDE experience.

  • Experience with CFC/FDE inclusions of Form 1120

  • Substantially relevant indirect tax experience.

  • Proficiency is MS Excel

  • Onesource compliance and provision software

  • Oracle/Workday (ERP), Avatax/Vertex/Onesource Indirect Tax, BNA/Sage (F/A)

  • Amortization and Depreciation experience

  • CAF Number to engage IRS on issues

  • Fortune 500 experience preferred

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a complex, dynamic environment

  • Strong, clear and concise written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to work extended hours as needed

  • Ability to multi-task and complete work accurately and on time in a remote work environment

  • Some travel required

Compensation

  • $120,000-135,000 annually
