A Brief Overview

The Community Outreach Coordinator I provides general assistance in staffing and developing community outreach programs, assisting with office operations, and aiding program coordinators. The Coordinator I position requires independence, responsibility for program design and operation, and ability to carry out programs in the absence of a Coordinator II or III. The Community Outreach Coordinator may be assigned to different programs, tasks, or funding streams as required to best advance the mission of the Community Safety & Resource Center and Rainbow Babies & Children's as a whole. What You Will Do



  • Actively participating as a member of the Rainbow Safety Squad team, including conducting outreach to schools, coordinating schedules, conducting large and small group presentations to elementary school students, program reporting, and lifting/loading/set up of program equipment
  • Leading programs and projects in the absence of a coordinator II or III, with oversight and direction from the Injury Prevention Center Manager.
  • Assisting with staffing of evening and weekend events.
  • Providing cross coverage within the department as needed.
  • Attending and actively participating in department/agency meetings.
  • Managing the scheduling of patient/community member appointments for car seat fitting station and Rainbow Safety Store.
  • Demonstrating an ability to work independently and conscientiously with a minimum of oversight.
  • Making meaningful contributions to program planning and development teams.
  • Assisting with identification of funding prospects and planning of proposals.
  • Assisting with Rainbow's Car Seat Inspection Station and Safe Sitter courses as needed.
  • Assisting with MacDonald Women's Hospital safety education rounding program as needed.
  • Assisting with daily operations of the Rainbow Safety Store as needed, including sales transactions and product delivery to patient rooms.

  • Complies with all policies and standards.
  • For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.
  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
