Underwriting Team Leader-Crop

The Opportunity: The purpose of this role is to oversee and manage a team of Underwriting staff, ensuring adherence to regulations and company policies related to crop insurance.

* Location: Greensboro, NC

* Work Arrangement: This role is hybrid, where you will be expected to be in the office 2-3 days per week. Monday-Thursday for 8.25 hours/day and 4.5 hours each Friday.

* The starting salary range for this role is between $59,000-$89,000

Your New Role:

  • Supervise a team of Underwriting staff to ensure service quality and output meet goals.
  • Integrate new joiners effectively into the team and organization.
  • Act as a referral point for the team to handle technical and procedural queries.
  • Identify training needs within the department and plan learning solutions.
  • Apply underwriting judgment to review, evaluate, and price insurance policies.
  • Provide excellent customer service and Underwriting excellence for customer retention.
  • Resolve customer service issues promptly and meet service standards.
  • Deal with complaints fairly and in a timely manner to meet regulatory obligations.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure a superior customer experience.
  • Assist in developing a culture of continuous improvement within the team.

Required Qualifications

* High School Diploma/GED
* 6+ years of relevant experience in Crop Underwriting

Preferred Work Experience

* 10 years experience with Crop Insurance

* Quickly and accurately perform data entry
*Use multiple resources to gather and analyze information and use logic to underwrite basic risk exposures within authority

*Demonstrated multitasking while maintain accuracy skill
*Excellent customer service and communication (written and verbal) skills
*Ability to work under pressure with a strong attention to detail
*Act fairly, ethically and with integrity when decision-making
*Maintain confidentiality of private or sensitive information
*Multi-task and handle competing priorities; adapt and be flexible in a complex changing environment
*Share knowledge, train and mentor others
*Able to self-start and manage to an end

* Broad working knowledge of crop insurance concepts
*Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
*Advanced working knowledge of terminology, function and fundamental capabilities of common computer, software, information and communication technology devices, components, and concepts
*Proficient with Easy Mapping, Easy Hail, On Base, Easy Quote and workflow

* Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience

* Master Yield Certification desired

Compensation Package: The salary range for this role is provided above. This is the national range for location(s) listed. The salary offer will be decided based on the role's complexity, its location, and the candidate's professional background, including their education and experience.
