Position Description:
- Processes payroll specific transactions, such as time cards, direct deposit actions, commission, pension and / or benefit and bonus processing and allowance payments.
- Responds to routine inquiries from clients or employees.
- Maintains files for all documents processed.
- Processes routine payrolls for one or more organizational units or pay groups.
- Assists with creation, transmission and processing of routine data files such as time files, payroll account files or service providers data files between various business partners.
- Maintains routine time reporting or accrual systems and processes.
- Supports the Payroll Professionals in administrative tasks.
- Impacts: It is characteristic that situations vary significantly, so thinking is about addressing and evaluating unusual or uncommon situations appropriately and to resolve incidents or issues in the most suitable and effective way. However, issue handling rarely exceeds day-to-day horizon, but is rather short-term and process focused.
Key Responsibilities:
- Vocationally trained positions that need both practical and theoretical understanding and some significant advanced vocational experience to perform broad range of varying tasks and issues, in related field of work.
- Work performed is still procedure based, however issues and problems arising needs accountable addressing and solution by incumbent.
- Broad scope of tasks and accountabilities within one functional area needs to be managed by senior experienced incumbent.
- Non-routine inquiries and issues occur regularly and need to be solved instantly, with a certain degree of authority and bindingness towards (internal and external) customers.
Experience:
- 3 year vocational training.
- + 3 to 5 years practical and specialized experience, or specialized qualification needed.
Knowledge:
- Have a good grasp of knowledge and principles in the related field of work, based on vocational training and practical experience, which enables incumbents to operate in moderately complex workflow environments.
Key Skills:
- Must-Haves:
- Payroll processing knowledge.
- Strong Excel skills.
- General understanding of payroll functions.
- Preferred Tools & Systems:
- Dayforce (strong plus, but not required).
- ServiceNow or other ticketing systems.
- Additional Skills:
- Experience with agency tax setup (SUI, state, local).
- Familiarity with state family disability plans.
- Tax adjustments and quarter-end corrections.
- Auditing tax data and working with remote worker taxation rules.
- Experience (Excel experience PVT, VLOOP-UP).
- Puerto Rico tax regulations (a plus).
Soft Skills
- Self-starter with minimal need for direction.
- Comfortable working under pressure and in chaotic environments.
- Quick learner and adaptable to changing priorities.
