The Director of Industrial Engineering is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing a team of approximately 70 industrial engineers across all stamping and assembly operations. This leader will drive enterprise-wide efforts to optimize workstation design, eliminate waste, and improve build quality through the application of station controls and Design for Assembly/Manufacturing (DFA/DFM) principles.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong strategic mindset, lean manufacturing expertise, and a passion for operational excellence. This role is pivotal to achieving the company's goals in cost competitiveness, quality improvement, and operational restructuring.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Develop and lead execution of 3- to 5-year industrial engineering strategies in alignment with manufacturing and corporate objectives.
  • Drive year-over-year productivity and efficiency improvements across all facilities, grounded in product and process complexity benchmarking.
  • Ensure robust cost modeling for future products, including accurate estimation of direct and indirect labor.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress toward cost, quality, and throughput targets.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of efficient man-hour allocation and line balancing strategies.
  • Lead complexity reduction initiatives through Design for Assembly principles, working closely with product engineering teams.
  • Govern plant change management processes, ensuring controlled implementation of product and process updates.
  • Champion standardization of industrial engineering practices and ensure best practice sharing across facilities.
  • Collaborate with regional and global operations leaders to implement and sustain standard work and lean manufacturing methodologies.

Basic Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
  • 10+ years of progressive manufacturing experience, including at least 5 years in industrial engineering leadership roles
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in lean manufacturing or production system implementation
  • Proven ability to lead large teams, drive organizational change, and deliver measurable results


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Master's degree in engineering, Operations, or Business
  • Experience in automotive or high-volume manufacturing environments
  • Familiarity with digital manufacturing tools (e.g., simulation, MES, digital time studies)
  • Strong understanding of Design for Manufacturing/Assembly, Six Sigma, and cost deployment methodologies
