Sr. Corporate Paralegal (Hybrid)

The Securian Financial Law Department seeks a corporate paralegal to join its corporate transactions team. As part of this team, you will work closely with internal business units and external partners to draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of commercial agreements. The successful candidate will bring a background of established legal experience, strong technical skills, excellent client service, and a practical approach to legal matters that balances business needs and risk mitigation.

What you'll do:

  • Draft, revise, and negotiate commercial contracts, including vendor agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and other contracts to meet your business partners' needs.
  • Lead systematic improvements to the contracting process by implementing best practices and leveraging AI tools and technology solutions to streamline workflows and enhance accuracy.
  • Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to understand contractual needs, advise on terms, and ensure alignment with corporate policies and strategic objectives.
  • Maintain and update templates, playbooks, and process documentation to support consistent and efficient contract management across the organization.
  • Partner with Securian Financial's Procurement department to manage contract lifecycle processes including tracking key dates, renewal schedules, and compliance obligations to ensure all contractual commitments are met.
  • Cross train with other members of the team to occasionally provide backup or capacity coverage for other corporate legal functions, including corporate governance and regulatory filings.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Experience drafting, negotiating, and advising business partners on complex commercial contracts with minimal supervision and strong attention to detail.
  • Experience with legal technology platforms and demonstrated interest in leveraging AI tools to improve legal processes and outcomes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify process improvements and implement systematic solutions.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills with the ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.
  • Self-directed and disciplined approach to work with ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines effectively.
  • Versatility, maturity, and ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team environment, demonstrating ownership, exceptional client service, and strong teammate qualities.
  • Proactive mindset with capacity for critical thinking and creative problem-solving.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Paralegal Certification
  • Experience in law firm or corporate legal department
  • Familiarity with contract management systems and legal technology platforms
  • Knowledge of AI applications in legal operations and process improvement

The estimated base pay range for this job is:

$69,500.00 - $129,000.00

Pay may vary depending on job-related factors and individual experience, skills, knowledge, etc. More information on base pay and incentive pay (if applicable) can be discussed with a member of the Securian Financial Talent Acquisition team.
