POSITION SUMMARY

Forum Investment Group LLC ("Forum") is a boutique investment management firm with a focus in multi-family real estate. Forum is seeking a Legal Assistant or Paralegal with experience in corporate law and real estate law to support the legal department. Duties will include, but not be limited to the following:

Essential Functions:



  • Assist with maintaining corporate books for all Forum and Forum-related entities including domestic and foreign filings, annual renewals, membership assignments, written consents, amendments and 1031 exchanges.
  • Assist with corporate records maintenance to include ongoing corporate operations, including directors and officers resolutions, and amendments of incorporation.
  • Assist the Chief Compliance Officer & General Counsel with maintaining the compliance program (monitoring/tracking various projects, employee certifications, updating policies and procedures, supporting policy trainings, etc.)
  • Logging and maintaining records and filings related to regulated and unregulated portions of Forum's business.
  • Monitor/track status of state and federal registrations and/or exemptions.
  • Assist with creating and maintaining an internal document management system.
  • Supporting certain aspects and stages of fund formation and fund transactions (including real estate transactions).


Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

  • Extremely meticulous, with an ability to proof material and deliver accurate and high-quality work.
  • Prepare effective correspondence to title companies and lenders counsel.
  • Prepare certified mail and Fed Ex packages to be sent as needed.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and shift gears quickly when timelines change.
  • Strong project management, time management and organizational skills with an ability to manage tight deadlines, unexpected delays, revisions, ad hoc requests and changing priorities.
  • Highly self-motivated with a proactive, entrepreneurial mindset - and an ability to thrive in a relatively unstructured, but goal-oriented professional environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a clear ability to effectively collaborate with other departments and professionals - inside and outside the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a high-velocity workplace, with a demonstrated ability to prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment.
  • Skilled problem-solver, able to effortlessly adapt to changing circumstances and needs.
  • Additional duties as needed and assigned.


Education & Technical Skills:



  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Suite: Word, PowerPoint, Excel
  • 5+ years of experience as a legal assistant or paralegal is required

Physical Demands:
