Position Summary:

Primary position responsibility is the preventative and emergency maintenance of facility systems and regular maintenance of all associated buildings and grounds. This includes allocating appropriate resources to ensure efficient and cost-effective operation with maximum system up-time. Position is also responsible for contracted vendor services and the cost-effective, efficient application of those services to the physical systems and fixtures. Position is responsible for supporting all production and warehouse facilities maintenance needs, building janitorial services, utilities and industrial services and maintenance of facility grounds.

Hours/Schedule:

6am start time on Mondays, 7am start time Tuesday-Friday. Must be available as 24/7 emergency contact for the facility.

Responsibilities:

Facility & Grounds Maintenance 70-90%

  • Maintain facility physical systems at peak efficiency, cost-effective operating basis while minimizing downtime; includes remote PC access
    to verify & correct system status.
  • Emergency response contact & coordination of all repairs of system failure.
  • Administer & document preventative maintenance (PM) for all systems & fixtures.
  • Installation & repair of production equipment & support systems.
  • Contract and manage vendor services as necessary for systems, utilities, fixtures & grounds repair & upkeep.
  • Coordinate resources for facility construction or modification work, including engineering, bidding, installation, start-up and budget compliance.
  • Maintenance of current and accurate Auto CAD files, blueprints & records of all physical systems and fixtures.
  • Maintenance of supply & parts inventory to assure maximum operational system up-time.
  • Coordinate and facility maintenance of facility grounds.
  • Conduct and support special projects as assigned by facility Director.

Safety & Security Support 10-20%

  • Coordinate facilities activities with Safety Officer and Director to minimize risk and potential loss.
  • Function as key emergency response team member for all physical systems & fixtures, and maintain current training in emergency chemical spill response and clean-up.
  • Assist Safety Office as needed and back-up in absence for functions including hazardous waste collection, disposal & documentation, accident response, PPE control, and related functions.
  • Assure compliance with all safety policies & requirements for maintaining a work environment that that promotes safety practices, awareness and compliance.
  • Secure & maintain facility access card and key control systems.

Administration 10-20%

  • Recommend and manage annual capital budget items for consideration by the facility Director.
  • Maintain current awareness as technical resource of system technology & functions.
  • Liaison with corporate engineering and procurement staff on specific issues & projects as needed.

Supervision 5-10%

  • Prioritize work assignments & schedules for direct reports and support staff.
  • Coach support staff for optimal performance, and identify training opportunities to maximize facility functional & team support, as well as technical and performance development.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required, in Engineering discipline preferred, but will consider other technical degrees
  • Required training, licenses and certifications for system maintenance; refrigeration certification desirable (CIRA/CERA, RETA, combustion safety certifications are a plus)

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a progressively responsible maintenance role, preferably in food manufacturing facility, of which several years were as leader of the Maintenance function or Factory Engineer in a plant. Strong maintenance leaders from other industries shall be considered.
  • Supervisory/management experience in previous assignment is a required
  • Previous experience managing departmental budgets, reading and interpreting schematics/diagrams, compressed air, and ammonia refrigeration system maintenance preferred
  • Knowledge of standards and regulations including OSHA, EPA, NFPA, IEEE, NEC, ASME, ANSI, and PSM/RMP.
  • Forward-thinking, highly technical capability to assure compliance for support of current needs, as well as anticipated future capacity. Must focus on continuous improvement to assure optimal efficiency, new capability and reduced cost.
  • In-depth knowledge of production & operational systems, including boilers, chillers, air handlers, electrical systems, deionized water, air, nitrogen, vacuum and compressed gas systems.
  • Understanding of operations to assure facility systems are operational to achieve optimal customer support requirements.
  • Availability for 24/7 emergency coverage.
