Main Duties:

The Supervisor has the responsibility for the planning, coordination, evaluation, and supervision of all technical and/or operational activities and staff members at the site. This includes Technologists and Phlebotomists. This position is responsible for performing duties as to operate the lab with the highest quality, safety, integrity, and in an efficient, economical and businesslike manner are of utmost importance.

Plans, assigns and directs work in the laboratory, to include oversight of staff schedules and payroll duties. Mentors and supports employees in their responsibilities in QC, testing, and ensures they receive training in supervisory skill development. Ensures quality control and compliance procedures are followed. Oversees staffing of all technical and phlebotomy personnel in the laboratory. Reviews test performance, instrument validations, drives process and project management, and prepares and submits required reports to meet established deadlines. Resolves problems through interaction with clients. Provides resources and guidance to Physicians in relation to test ordering options. Coordinates and monitors EHS programs.

Must be able to work closely with Manager, Point of Care Staff, Hospital Nursing Staff, and Hospital Administration. Must work closely with DLO QA to ensure compliance with QA program.

Able to meet physician's needs by problem solving and resolution of their concerns. Attend meetings as needed by the hospital including but not limited to Huddles, Inspection teams, Patient Care, and Med Quality as required by the hospital.

Review Quality Controls records weekly and monthly. Able to follow implemented QA program

Required Knowledge: BS degree in Medical Technology to meet CLIA standards for a laboratory supervisor. Applicant must demonstrate a broad knowledge of the technical aspects of the tests performed in Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology, Serology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Blood Bank, and Phlebotomy. Applicant should demonstrate a willingness to stay abreast of the latest innovations in test methodologies. Varied shifts to meet staffing needs.

Required Experience:Minimum - 5 years in a clinical laboratory; 2 years supervisory experience preferred but not required.

Special Requirements: MT(ASCP) or equivalent certification. Must demonstrate interpersonal skills to gain cooperation with other departments and foster continuous improvements. Must be flexible and available based on staffing requirements, including weekends, and holidays. Demonstrates excellent organizational and communication skills and be able to address client concerns and employees in a professional manner. Makes independent decisions and handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting. Able to organize and lead projects both within the work group and with cross-functional groups.
