Development & Patient Education
Qualifications Graduate from and approved nursing program. Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa. Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification prior to hire. Advanced Coronary Life Support (ACLS) certification or obtain within 6 months from hire date. Unit specific additional functions will be addressed in the competency checklist. Additional certifications and requirements are unit based. Must obtain NIHSS education within 90 days of hire and maintain every two years thereafter. Completion of eight hours of stroke education prior to the end of orientation and annually. . Machines: Pumps (IV, PCA, Epidural, Feeding), Chest tubes, Suction, IV's, Pulse Oximeter, Ventilators, CRRT Administrative: Blood transfusion, ET, Infection Control, PT/OT, Inhaler, Order Entry, BLS, ACLS certification of hire. |
