FlexStaff is seeking a Medicaid Billing Specialist for a temp-to-perm position with our client, nonprofit agency that provides evaluation, treatment and education of individuals with psychiatric and developmental disabilities.



  • Location: Brooklyn
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday 9am- 4pm
  • Pay Rate: $30-$32/hr
  • Temp to Perm


RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Handles all aspects of Medicaid billing for children's and various adult programs.
  • Resolves all issues and follows up with Medicaid billing as well as 3rd party, insurance billing.
  • Obtains essential information for Medicaid billing for all programs.
  • Responsible for rebilling and corrections of Medicaid denied claims and follow up.
  • Collects private payments for day care children.
  • Checking for Medicaid eligibility status of the clients utilizing E-Paces.org website.
  • Generates batch files in MillinPro and receives verification files.
  • Receives 835 remittance files on a weekly basis and report amounts to Controller for budgetary purposes. Contacting third party providers and CSC offices for verifications of Medicaid client status and resolving billing related problems.
  • Bills third party insurance companies when necessary.
  • Maintain log of Medicaid Billing on a monthly basis for all programs.
  • Perform Accounts Receivable (A/R) analysis, as assigned.
  • Serves as back up for issuing purchase orders according to purchase order processing expectations. Follows up on all partial purchases until purchase order is completed. Provides progress of purchase order to accounts payable for proper payments.
  • Learn other functional areas of Accounting, e.g., A/R, A/P, and provides relief and/or support as assigned.
  • Liaison for all programs to correct, rebill, and adjust all billing as necessary.
  • Assists with financial audit for accuracy and provides information about billing for all service providers.
  • Responsible for miscellaneous clerical work and special projects from Controller and CFO.
  • Performs other related job duties or responsibilities as assigned and cross training for back up for other accounting functions.


REQUIREMENTS



  • Associate's Degree in Accounting required or related field with 2+ years relevant experience OR 4+ years of commensurate experience working within an Accounting department handling relevant accounting and finance functions.
  • Prior Medicaid and health insurance billing experience. Must have familiarity with Medicaid rules such as 90-day deadline and use of over 90 day codes.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of staff and represent the Agency with external groups/individuals.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Excellent organizational and mathematical skills.
  • Knowledge of CFTSS and Article 31 Mental health clinic billing.
