What you'll be doing...

The Verizon CyberSecurity (VCS) team is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Director to join the Governance, Risk and Compliance team. This role will report directly to the Associate Vice President of GRC and will lead the organization's cyber audit and assurance activities. This role involves planning, developing, and executing comprehensive audit programs to assess and improve the effectiveness of the company's cybersecurity controls. It will also require the development of technical solutions to support assurance activities. In addition, this leader will lead the governance of enterprise products which include assessing the readiness of product launches and developing solutions to ensure proper oversight. The Director will collaborate with VCS teams, Legal & Compliance, as well as the business units to ensure adherence to security requirements and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive cyber audit & assurance strategy and plan.

  • Serve as the liaison between the Internal Audit team and VCS teams in managing audit schedules and management action plans

  • Conduct assessments and identify gaps in the organization's cybersecurity infrastructure

  • Perform independent audits of cybersecurity controls, processes, and systems.

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of existing security measures and recommend improvements.

  • Prepare and present detailed reports to senior management.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, GDPR).

  • Project confidence and competence under pressure and while interacting with team members, security partners, customers and leadership to help build strong relationships of trust.

  • Develop strong & successful interpersonal relationships with partners and stakeholders within and across the business and with external stakeholders

  • Collaborate with IT and security teams to remediate audit findings and enhance security posture.

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest cybersecurity threats, trends, and technologies.

People Management:

  • Lead, develop, and manage employees to achieve the organization's roles, including recruiting, training, developing and performance management.

  • Ensure personnel are appropriately aligned to assigned projects and responsibilities based on skills and performance.

What we're looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Ten or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:
  • Expertise in building and implementing GRC frameworks and risk management processes.

  • Familiarity with regulatory & compliance requirements, including SOX

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or equivalent certification is a plus.

  • Strong leadership, and team-building skills.

  • Excellent written & verbal communications skills with external and internal stakeholders, executives. Ability to deliver constructive & encouraging feedback.

  • Proactive, organized, analytical, detail-oriented, and persistent.

  • Proven ability to build, lead, and mentor high-performing teams, fostering a culture of excellence.

  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills to align to GRC objectives across various departments.

  • Strategic decision-making and problem-solving capabilities to navigate complex regulatory landscapes.

  • Exceptional communication skills to translate technical requirements into actionable business solutions.

The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part-time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours. The annual salary range for the location(s) listed on this job requisition based on a full-time schedule is: $143,500.00 - $275,000.00.
