Outside Plant (OSP) Engineer

Lead design and manage infrastructure layouts for data centers, MDF/IDF rooms, and communication closets.

Oversee installation of cabling, fiber optics, racks, and support hardware.

Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA, and internal build standards.

Create redline drawings and build documentation for contractors and internal teams.

Prepare and review bills of materials (BOM) for projects ranging from $10K to $5M.

Conduct bid evaluations and compare estimates for scope and material accuracy-not just price.

Participate in all construction phases from dirt work to final move-in, including field visits and job site inspections.

Represent Technology Services in construction and stakeholder meetings.

Collaborate with Program Managers for budget tracking and forecasting.

Interface regularly with field techs, vendors, contractors, and construction firms.

50% Field-based: Active job site visits, working closely with construction crews and inspectors.

50% Office/Remote: Estimating, drawing reviews, bid analysis, and meetings.

Flexible location work (remote/Amarillo office) with required presence at job sites during construction milestones.

Travel primarily includes day trips within the Texas and New Mexico territories (overnights < 5%).

5+ years of experience in physical IT infrastructure project management.

Deep knowledge of structured cabling systems, fiber optics, rack layouts, and equipment support systems.

RCDD certification or similar (preferred but not required).

Hands-on experience with bid review, BOM creation, estimating, and vendor coordination.

Familiarity with NEC compliance and safety standards.

Valid driver's license and willingness to travel locally.

This role replaces a long-term contributor and is expected to be a critical, long-term contract role with potential FTE opportunity.

Occasional overtime expected (up to 10 hours during peak weeks).

A company vehicle will be provided for job site visits; travel expenses reimbursed at cost.

Must be comfortable working in construction environments, from early-stage groundwork to final tech installations.

Compensation:

Hourly W2 pay rate $90.00 to $100.00/Hr.
