DESCRIPTION

Learns to apply professional UC Academic HR concepts, organization and / or system wide policies, and procedures in the completion of UC Academic HR assignments that are of limited scope and impact. Receives instructions on most work assignments, and regularly consults with more senior academic HR Analysts and / or manager in the course of completing assignments. Exercises some judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action.

Assists the Academic Personnel (AP) team with processing faculty appointment, review files and recruitments. Prepares academic appointment and review cases by assembling required documents and ensuring that all file materials are accurate and deadlines are met. Assists with all aspects of the faculty recruitment process, including scheduling meetings, conference calls and other logistics related to candidate interview visits. Provides support on special projects as needed by SIO Department Leadership and staff.

QUALIFICATIONS

*Acquiring knowledge of and ability to apply / interpret organization and college policies and procedures which govern academic personnel.

*Acquiring knowledge of organization, college, and departmental formal and informal policies and procedures, and understanding of variances to stated policies.

*Analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize, follow through on tasks, handle multiple tasks simultaneously with a high degree of accuracy, and meet deadlines independently; respond to urgent requests with the demonstrated ability to function well in a high volume environment with frequent interruptions.

*Skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Superior oral and written communications skills with ability to interact and communicate professionally, sensitively and effectively with a diverse population of faculty, administrators, visitors, students, staff and the general public.

*Ability to work professionally under pressure and under tight deadlines ensuring excellent customer service support. Demonstrated ability to work independently or collaboratively in a highly computerized, high volume, team-orientated environment, exercising good judgment, diplomacy, accuracy, creativity and initiative in performance of job responsibilities.

*In-depth knowledge and ability using Google Calendar, Google Docs and Google Forms.

*Acquiring knowledge of unit academic culture and educational goals of discipline(s) served.

*Ability to work in diverse groups, including but not limited to students, staff, faculty and general public. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships. Basic knowledge and experience working with a diverse student and faculty population.

*Effective problem-solving skills: Identify, research and recommend solutions and determine procedures to accomplish effective resolutions. Ability to make consistent judgments and apply them to individual circumstances.

*Ability to be flexible and to use initiative and creativity to develop, anticipate and administer new procedures and practices that recognize changing work patterns. Initiative to follow-up on projects and to be proactive.

*Ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with established policies.

*Excellent organizational skills, including skill in effectively coordinating and organizing multiple details especially with regard to calendar management.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

Job offer is contingent upon satisfactory clearance based on Background Check results.

Must have access to reliable transportation.

Overtime and weekends may be required.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $53,800 - $91,000 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $25.77 - $43.58

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
