The Role

We are looking for a highly skilled and analytical individual to work on our Accounts Receivable team as a Senior Accounts Receivable Specialist. In this role, you will report to the Manager, Accounts Receivable and will be responsible for overseeing and managing the accounts receivable process to ensure timely and accurate collection of outstanding payments. This role involves handling complex accounts, resolving billing issues, mentoring AR staff, and maintaining strong relationships with customers and internal teams.

Key Result Areas

  • Monitor and manage the full-cycle accounts receivable process, including invoicing, collections, and cash application
  • Analyze aging reports and follow up on overdue accounts through calls, emails, and written communication
  • Resolve complex billing discrepancies and disputes in a timely and professional manner
  • Prepare intermediate to complex schedules, reconciliations, and journal entries for premium receivables, bank reconciliations and cash journal entries to assist with month-end and year-end closing processes related to AR
  • Collaborate with internal teams, customer service, and finance teams to streamline billing and collections processes
  • Collaborate with external auditors to provide support for financial statement audits
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant accounting regulations
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance AR efficiency
  • Document business processes to enhance internal controls
  • Perform special projects as needed

  • Organization: Exceptional organizational abilities, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in managing tasks and processes

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 4+ years of experience in accounts receivable, preferably in a senior or lead role
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and AR best practices
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel
  • Insurance industry experience preferred, ideally in the property and casualty sector
