WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

As the Service Delivery Transportation Supervisor, you will lead a dynamic team of employee drivers and over 150 dedicated volunteers across two states-based in Boise, Idaho, with oversight of operations in Montana. This critical leadership role requires someone who thrives in coordinating complex logistics and navigating diverse groups and communication styles. You will be responsible for scheduling and dispatching blood pick-up and delivery routes, ensuring the safe and timely transport of lifesaving products across regions.

In this role, you will manage both in-person and remote team members, perform cost analysis to optimize transportation efficiency, and maintain compliance with operational standards. You'll play a vital part in supporting the Red Cross mission through strategic planning, strong people leadership, and a passion for service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the supervision and coordination of schedule deliveries and shuttles including empty box pickups utilizing vendors/volunteers and ARC paid couriers based on the most economical and cost-effective means. Coordinate pickups of collected products (time-sensitive and non-time sensitive) from mobiles, fixed sites and staging sites utilizing the most economical and cost-effective means.
  • Responsible for volunteer/staff training and certification of competency. Help in onboarding of new volunteer/staff. Prepare work schedules and ensure appropriate coverage for assigned shift. Supervise all work processes and ensure work is performed accurately and efficiently.
  • Make proactive adjustments to routes on an as needed basis due to inclement weather, major traffic issues, and special events, etc.
  • Monitor volunteer engagement and work with Volunteer Services to increase volunteer recruitment. Participate in planning of local recognition events.
  • Interact with customers to provide updates on deliveries. Monitor Connect and the Transportation Management System (TMS) to provide tracking of shipments to customers.
  • Perform invoice monitoring, reconciliation, and timely payment of all bills. Maintain good communication and follow up with the Vendor.
  • Work with service delivery management group and contracting as needed.
  • Evaluate and ensure the proper vehicle needs are being met for the site and coordinate the request with the Fleet Coordinator. Work with Fleet for vehicle needs.
  • On-call may be required.

Pay Information:

The salary for this position is $63504.00

This job will be posted for a minimum of five business days and extended if the applicant pool needs to be expanded.

Note that American Red Cross salaries are aligned to the specific geographic location in which the work is primarily performed. Other factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role.

Shift: Typically a Monday through Friday day shift; but will need to be available as business needs arise, and will share on-call duties with the Transportation Specialist.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Minimum 3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
  • 1 year of lead or supervisory experience.
  • A valid driver's license and clean DMV record is required.
  • Must be computer proficient, technology savvy,
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Previous experience with messenger service or trucking company is desirable.
  • Must have effective communication and customer service skills and the ability to interact with diverse customers (internal and external) is required. Ability to work on a team and independently.
  • Travel: May be required if the position is multi-regional
  • The combination of a candidate's education and general experience satisfies requirements so long as the total years equate to description's minimum education and general experience years combined (Management experience cannot be substituted).
