Job Purpose
Creates new and updates existing drawings of equipment, machine tooling, and facilities. Works with Maintenance, Engineering, and suppliers in designing and obtaining a replacement, improved design, and new design tooling. Evaluates the functionality of new tooling by working with others to determine needed changes and implementing such changes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ability to interpret blueprints
- Ability to adapt quickly to constant and /or sudden changes in priorities and deadlines and to move between assignments effectively
- Tooling designs and material optimization
- Processes drafting work requests
- Takes blueprint layout concept drawings and moves to detail drawings
- Prepares and issues request-for -quotes
- Evaluates processes and equipment, to identify tooling needs
- Maintains a safe working environment, reporting all unsafe conditions to supervisor/manager; operates equipment in accordance with prescribed safety procedures; adheres to applicable local, state, and federal ordinances regarding material storage, usage, and disposal; may halt procedure process if deemed unsafe.
- Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with co-workers; is accessible to peers and production workers in order to address questions and concerns related to the area of responsibility.
- Additional duties are performed as required, may include training and assignments in other functional work areas.
- Accountable to provide coordination of all drafting related activities in the assigned work area such as to accomplish plant-wide objectives and operational goals.
- Requests guidance and evaluation when the situation requires.
- Ability to create detailed drawings from concept drawings
- Solid interpersonal skills required to develop good working relationships with co-workers and positively impact the productivity of groups/teams; ability to work successfully on teams; ability to acquire a thorough knowledge of procedures, policies, and operations, which apply to the functional area in which the position is assigned.
- Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment when dealing with critical matters within the Engineering department.
- Must be self-directed and work with minimal supervision

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree in industrial technology or drafting and/or 2 years of experience.
- Language Skills:
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret policies, compliance guidelines.
- Excellent written and oral communication skill, with the ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from employees, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Mathematical Skills:
- Must have proficient ability to perform moderately complex geometry and algebraic calculations.
- Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Ability to organize, coordinate, and perform multiple tasks efficiently and accurately.
- Computer Skills:
- Above-average knowledge/ability of word processing, spreadsheet, Auto-Cad 13 or higher.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in industrial drafting and 3-5 years of experience.
- Experience with Solid Works.

- This position will work in an office setting, expect minimal physical demands.
- Must be able to frequently bend; twist; reach; stoop; kneel or crouch.
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds/11.5 kilos on occasions.
- This position is exposed to harmful materials such as lead/fiberglass products. Periodic blood tests are required to measure the level of lead. Precautions are taken by the company/employee to reduce the risk of exposure and help ensure everyones safety.
- Employees are responsible for wearing the required Personal Protective Equipment in the proper manner at all times.
- Must be able and willing to work overtime.
- Must be able and willing to work varying schedules which may include nights, weekends, and public holidays.
