Printpack, a leading manufacturer of flexible packaging, is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Pre-Press Manager at our Grand Prairie, TX facility. This leadership role offers the opportunity to manage a substantial operation overseeing 25+ associates across three specialized functions. This position will report to the Plant Manager. Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee all aspects of the pre-press department, including Plate Making/Mounting and Ink departments
  • Coordinate personnel, equipment, and workflow to ensure efficient and accurate preparation of print production components
  • Coordinate and prioritize workload to meet production deadlines and exceed customer expectations
  • Lead process control and improvement teams with focus on cost reduction and standardization
  • Review and assess incoming artwork and files for printability, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and quality standards
  • Collaborate with design teams to optimize artwork and graphics for optimal print production
  • Maintain and update procedures/work instructions for pre-press software, hardware, and equipment
  • Stay current with industry trends, advancements, and best practices in pre-press and flexographic printing
  • Monitor hazardous waste management within Pre-Press in accordance with RCRA guidelines
  • Provide environmental oversight of tank farm operations
  • Foster a culture of safety and Printpack's Core Values throughout the team
  • Support and mentor associates' career development and advancement goals
  • Build and maintain a high-performing team culture aligned with Printpack's values
  • Ensure seamless collaboration with production teams for smooth design-to-print transitions
Experience:
  • Supervisory/management experience
  • Experience with hazardous waste management
Technical Skills:
  • Extensive knowledge of flexographic printing processes
  • Proficiency in pre-press software and digital workflow systems
  • Understanding of color management and quality control processes
  • Familiarity with RCRA environmental compliance requirements

Leadership: Proven track record managing large teams (20+ employees)

Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills

Problem-Solving: Demonstrated ability to lead process improvements and cost-saving initiatives

Physical Demands & Travel:
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch crawl, climb stairs and ladders. Must be willing to wear personal protective equipment, including but not limited to protective eyewear, steel-toed shoes, and hearing protection. Must be able to work on the production floor at production machines when needed for process improvement events. Must be able to work on a computer and utilize tools for virtual meetings as needed.
  • Travel Requirements: This associate will not be expected to travel regularly. However, occasional travel to other locations is needed, typically 1-4 times per year.
Work Conditions:
  • This position will be in an office. However, the role will necessitate significant time on the plant floor and in warehouses. The primary responsibilities would be Monday through Friday during normal business hours, but could include weekends and nights if needed for an improvement project.
