Xometry is seeking a highly versatile and experienced Director, Information Technology to lead and manage our internal information technology infrastructure, systems, and support functions. This role is ideal for a proactive and hands-on leader who thrives in a dynamic environment and possesses a broad range of IT expertise. The Director, Information Technology will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of our internal IT operations, supporting our rapidly growing workforce across various locations. This individual will be capable of strategic planning, team leadership, and tactical execution across diverse IT domains. Responsibilities:
- Strategic IT Leadership & Planning:
- Develop and execute the internal IT roadmap, aligning with Xometry's business objectives and growth strategies.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies and solutions to enhance productivity, security, and scalability for internal operations.
- Manage IT budgets, vendor relationships, and licensing agreements effectively.
- Provide strategic guidance and support to leadership on IT-related decisions and initiatives.
- Infrastructure & Systems Management:
- Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of Xometry's internal network infrastructure (LAN, WAN, VPN, Wi-Fi), servers, and storage solutions.
- Manage cloud-based IT services (e.g., Google Workspace/Microsoft 365, Okta, Zoom, Slack) and on-premise systems to ensure optimal performance and security.
- Implement and maintain robust backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans.
- Ensure proper configuration and management of end-user devices (laptops, desktops, mobile devices).
- Cybersecurity & Compliance:
- Develop, implement, and enforce IT security policies and procedures to protect company data and systems.
- Manage identity and access management (IAM) systems and protocols.
- Assist in regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing.
- Ensure IT systems and practices comply with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001, ITAR, CMMC Level 2).
- User Support & Helpdesk Operations:
- Oversee and continually improve the internal IT helpdesk operations, ensuring timely and effective resolution of technical issues for all employees.
- Develop and implement IT policies, procedures, and best practices for end-users.
- Provide hands-on technical support and troubleshooting as needed, acting as an escalation point.
- Team Leadership & Development:
- Build, mentor, and lead a highly effective team of IT professionals.
- Foster a culture of customer service, continuous learning, and operational excellence within the IT team.
- Manage team performance, conduct regular reviews, and support professional development.
- Vendor Management:
- Evaluate, select, and manage relationships with IT service providers and hardware/software vendors.
- Negotiate contracts and ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of progressive experience in Information Technology roles, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or management position.
- Demonstrated expertise across a wide range of IT domains: networking, systems administration (Windows, macOS, Linux), cloud services (Google Workspace/Microsoft 365 administration), cybersecurity, helpdesk management, and hardware/software support.
- Proven experience designing, implementing, and managing IT infrastructure for a growing company.
- Strong track record of developing and implementing IT security policies and ensuring compliance.
- Experience with IT budgeting and vendor management.
- Experience supporting a globally distributed or rapidly scaling workforce is highly desirable.
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues quickly.
- Strong leadership, communication (verbal and written), and interpersonal skills, capable of explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proactive and self-motivated, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
- Deep understanding of best practices in IT operations, security, and service delivery.
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks relevant to a manufacturing or government-facing business (e.g., ITAR, CMMC, SOC 2) is a strong plus.
