Job Description:

The Avionics Advanced Technology team within the Avionics business unit is working to develop new disruptive technologies by rapidly prototyping, integrating, and validating advanced technologies that address the needs of the next generation of commercial aviation.

As the organization develops the next avionics suite, there is a need for end-user feedback and evaluation of our systems.

This position will be classified as remote but will require domestic travel for in-person simulator evaluation sessions. The expected time commitment is travel approximately 2x per year for 2-3 days at a time with an additional ~4hrs/month of consulting (online meetings and/or surveys) which can be completed remotely.

Primary Responsibilities:


  • Serve as PIC in simulator-based evaluation events of Client'sAvionics products.
  • Provide written and oral feedback on features/functions
  • Be willing to conduct "cognitive walkthroughs" of piloting tasks to non-pilot observers
  • Willing to wear eye-tracking glasses during evaluation events
  • Willing to wear a physiological monitoring device to determine workload
  • Willing to be video recorded during simulator events
  • Interface with engineering technical team on developing scenarios for systems testing
  • Respond to inquiries from the engineering team on system operation, concept of operations, abnormal operations, and other flight scenarios related to robust testing of the avionics system
  • Review documentation and evaluation results for accuracy and completeness based on experience as a system operator/SME
  • Passionate, inquisitive, and seek to solve everyday problems in innovative ways

Basic Qualifications:

  • HARD FILTER Type Rated and Current in one of the following types: Boeing 737, 777, 787 or Airbus A320, A350 Series Aircraft.
  • 90-Day Landing Currency (Desired)
  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident "Green Card" holder
  • Ability to communicate clearly to technical teams
  • Passion or experience in product development, user experience design, and human factors
  • Willingness and availability to participate in simulator evaluation sessions.
