GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under the direct supervision of the Media Relations and Crime Prevention Unit Sergeant, this
position plays a vital role in promoting public safety and enhancing community relationships
through education, outreach, and coordination. This position is responsible for educating
residents on how to protect life and property by fostering proactive crime prevention practices.
Serving as a bridge between law enforcement and the community, the Liaison engages residents,
businesses, and organizations in crime prevention efforts and oversees the administration of the
Crime Stoppers of Pinellas County program.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Communications or related field AND
- Three (3) years' related experience in community outreach, education, public safety programs, or related field OR
- Equivalent combination of education and/or experience
- A writing sample will be required to assess above average writing skills
- Previous experience in law enforcement support or grant program administration preferred
- Bilingual skills are highly desirable
- Must possess a valid Florida driver's license

- Strong communication and public speaking skills
- Ability to maintain effective working relations with the public and a board of directors
- Ability to engage with diverse community groups and establish trust
- Effective verbal and written communication skills to respond to inquiries from the public in a professional and articulate manner
- Familiarity with crime prevention practices and neighborhood engagement strategies
- Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office and current social media platforms
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Flexibility in scheduling required for evening or weekend meetings and events
- Ability to identify existing or potential problems and to develop ways to resolve issues
- Ability to manage confidential information with integrity and discretion
- Working knowledge of the functions, activities, requirements, and objectives of the area assigned
- Ability to perform all functions of the job classification without posing a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace
