Responsibilities

Associate Director, Tax Operations

We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Associate Director, Tax Operations to oversee the U.S. federal, state, and international tax compliance processes. This role reports to the Director of Tax Reporting and Compliance. This individual will play a key role in managing external service providers, supporting strategic tax planning initiatives, and ensuring full compliance with evolving tax laws and regulations.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Oversee the federal, state, and U.S. international tax compliance processes, including income tax filings, estimated tax payments, and audits
  • Manage the preparation and review of the U.S. tax calculations for quarterly U.S. GAAP tax reporting and income tax compliance
  • Manage the preparation of the U.S. tax workpapers, ensuring that workpapers are accurate and organized in preparation for tax audits
  • Respond to federal and state tax audit inquiries, ensuring timely and accurate documentation
  • Direct the preparation of tax-related journal entries, account reconciliations, and tax-related balance sheet management
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to analyze the tax impact of mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and other business transactions
  • Monitor and interpret changes in U.S. federal, state, and international tax laws, assessing their impact on the business and maintaining compliance
  • Ensure seamless integration of newly acquired entities into U.S. tax reporting and compliance processes
  • Support intercompany distribution planning, providing guidance on the U.S. tax implications of global cash movements
  • Contribute to long-term tax forecasting, strategic planning, and risk mitigation initiatives
  • Conduct ad hoc tax research and support special projects aligned with broader business objectives

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field; CPA and/or Master's in Taxation strongly preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of corporate tax experience, preferably within a Big 4 public accounting firm and/or the tax department of a large multinational corporation
  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. international tax principles and multistate tax compliance
  • Demonstrated experience managing large-scale tax compliance and reporting for multinational corporations
  • Proficiency with tax technology platforms; experience with Thomson Reuters OneSource Income Tax is a plus
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines

This position requires on-site presence at least three days per week.

California pay range: MIN $179,890.00, MIDPOINT $239,850.00 - MAX $299,820.00
