Proven to Perform. From the edges of space to the bottoms of ocean, our materials are proven to perform -- and so is our team. We're hiring high performers as proven as our products. Join us. We are seeking a Senior Director of Quality to lead and scale the quality function for our Specialty Alloys & Components business unit. This critical leadership role will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive quality strategy-from shop floor operations to regulatory compliance and business alignment-in a complex, highly regulated manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on, visible role reporting directly to the President of the business unit. The ideal candidate has deep experience building quality systems from the ground up, driving operational excellence, and working as a collaborative partner across operations, engineering, and commercial functions. A strong understanding of manufacturing metrics such as yield, rework, scrap, and cost of quality is essential. Key Responsibilities
- Build and Scale Quality Systems: Architect and implement robust quality management systems (QMS) that support the business through its full growth trajectory, with a focus on manufacturability, repeatability, and efficiency.
- Compliance and Regulatory Governance: Ensure compliance with key industry and regulatory standards, including ISO 9001, AS9100, IATF 16949, DOE, and NQA-1. Serve as a key liaison for regulatory audits and customer quality requirements.
- Shop Floor Partnership: Collaborate closely with operations leaders to understand real-world production challenges and implement practical, sustainable quality improvements. Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement on the floor.
- Cost of Quality Ownership: Develop and track collective quality metrics, including yield, rework, scrap, and total cost of quality. Use data to drive strategic decisions and root cause investigations.
- Business Alignment: Act as a strategic partner to commercial, product management, and leadership teams. Translate customer and market requirements into actionable quality strategies that enhance competitiveness and customer satisfaction.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Work across engineering, supply chain, and R&D teams to ensure that quality is embedded throughout the product lifecycle-from design and sourcing to final inspection and delivery.
- Talent Development: Lead, develop, and mentor a high-performing, multi-site team responsible for quality assurance, quality engineering, compliance, and supplier quality.
- Continuous Improvement: Champion lean principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and advanced problem-solving techniques to drive performance across the organization.
- Customer Engagement: Serve as the primary representative of our standards organization to customers, effectively communicating and advocating for our Quality Management System (QMS) through a compelling and well-structured narrative.
