Maintenance and Reliability Technician

The Opportunity:
Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and repair of the building and facilities.

What we're looking for:

  • Education: High school diploma required; Associate's degree in a life science or engineering discipline preferred.
  • Experience: 3 years applicable direct experience in a similar position.
  • Technical School preferred.

How you are:

  • Skills in mathematics, personal computers and related applications are vital.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills are important.
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems required.
  • Must be available to work any shift

How you will thrive and create an impact

  • Dismantles devices to gain access to and repair defective electrical components.
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
  • Initiate purchase orders for parts and machines. Maintain electrical shop cleanliness/organization. Order spare parts as needed.
  • Install conduit and run wire/cable to new or existing equipment.
  • Must be familiar with the of multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other electrical measurement tools used I the course of troubleshooting industrial equipment.
  • Safely perform installation and maintenance of machinery in accordance with NFPA 70, 70E, and 79 standards, in addition to applicable Avantor standards/policies.
  • Strong background in troubleshooting equipment. Must be able to use problem-solving skills to determine any problems with equipment, then decide and plan a course of action to resolve the problems.
  • Make decisions based on technical documents/prior experience/research while troubleshooting equipment.
  • Work with Controls Engineers to design, build, and install electrical enclosures for new or existing equipment. Use of pneumatic rotary tools, power tools, and hand tools are required.
  • Knowledgeable regarding standard industrial electric/electronic components, including VFD's electric motors, servo drives, motor starters, relays, PLC controllers, solenoid valves, pneumatic electrical control systems, etc.
  • Must be capable of lifting heavy loads, working alone or in a group, interfacing with manufacturing operators, engineers, outside contractors, and outside vendors.
  • Maintains building electrical system as well as heating and cooling equipment.
  • Performs maintenance or general carpentry on items such as doors, floors, docks, overhead doors, roof downspouts, product racks, materials handling equipment, etc.
  • Completes required reports when maintenance tasks are concluded.
  • Answers security alarm calls as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
