Note: Internally this role is referred to as Technical Manager TIS Solution Architect - Customer Care & Billing.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead all aspects of the architecture and design of Oracle CC&B technology solutions supporting business requirements on projects.

  • Ensure design solutions delivered are aligned with the requirements in the technical/logic design.

  • Design secure scalable Oracle solutions: Architects end-to-end Oracle-based systems, ensuring alignment with business goals and IT strategy.

  • Lead technical implementations: Oversee the deployment of Oracle applications, databases, and middleware, ensuring performance and security.

  • Install, setup, configure and fine-tuning of the entire Oracle CC&B stack including working with infrastructure and cloud team.

  • Optimize system architecture by Identifying and resolving architectural bottlenecks, improving system efficiency and reliability.

  • Provide technical solutions and guidance during the detailed design, build, test, and deploy phases of IT projects.

  • Provide technical governance: Establish best practices, standards, and frameworks including security for Oracle technology usage across the organization.

  • Deliver expert-level troubleshooting: Resolves complex Oracle performance and configuration issues that go beyond standard support.

  • Perform deep-dive diagnostics: Use advanced tools and methodologies to analyze system behavior and root causes of issues.

  • Implement performance tuning: Enhance database and application performance through fine-tuning and optimization strategies.

  • Support mission-critical systems: Provide high-availability and disaster recovery planning for Oracle environments.

  • Ensure the successful implementation of the Oracle CC&B most complex, larger scale, and cross-functional new/enhanced systems on time, in scope and within budget.

  • Create system design models, specifications, architecture and landscape diagrams, and charts to provide direction to system programmer and development teams.

  • Identify and implement process improvements to other solution architect team members and developers.

  • Present findings and make recommendations to senior management / leadership.

  • Identify the developmental needs of others and mentor others to improve their knowledge or skills.

  • Develop and maintain all technical standards, design patterns, reference architectures and roadmaps for a Reference Architecture Framework containing a broad collection of foundational services.

Who You Are:

Required:

  • Related University degree or Technical Diploma in IT, Engineering, or related subject area.

  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in Oracle CC&B as a Technical Solution Architect or Senior Consultant, leading multiple end-to-end implementations.

  • Good understanding of utility industry processes and how they translate into CC&B functionalities.

  • Hands-on experience with installation, setup, configuring, troubleshooting, performance tuning and customizing CC&B modules and stack.

  • Knowledge of integration methodologies and experience working with third-party platforms.

  • Ability to engage with stakeholders, manage expectations, and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a focus on system performance and client satisfaction.

Preferred:

  • Oracle Utilities certifications are an advantage.

  • Experience working on digital transformation projects within the utilities or public sector is highly desirable.

Working Conditions:

  • Office environment with some travel requirements.

  • Work in a virtual team environment with frequent interactions with team members located in Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, Chicago and Houston.

  • Stress levels can be above normal as the work is highly visible and decisions affect all integrated processes associated with new or changed business or operations.

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:

Grasping, kneeling, light - moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to work in tight spaces.
