Job Summary: The Sales Manager is responsible for strategically generating conference and group lodging business from an assigned territory and/or vertical market(s), with a focus on maximizing revenue across lodging, events, banquets, and mountain activities. This role requires a proactive, goal-driven approach to building new relationships, expanding market reach, and uncovering revenue opportunities. A hybrid work environment may be available. This position is eligible for a competitive commission structure.

Salaried:

The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the Palisades Tahoe Resort, LLC's salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Palisades Tahoe Resort, LLC's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives and many region-specific benefits.

Base salary range: $72,000 - $101,000 per year

Essential Job Responsibilities/Duties/Tasks include the following; other duties may be assigned:
  • Proactively sell Palisades Tahoe group lodging, conferences, banquets, events, and mountain activities with a focus on generating revenue and expanding market share.
  • Strategically prospect and develop new group accounts to drive growth and increase territory penetration.
  • Meet or exceed individual and team sales goals as determined by the Director of Sales.
  • Develop and implement marketing promotions and targeted eblasts in collaboration with Marketing to support lead generation and build brand awareness.
  • Work closely with internal departments-including Conference Planning, Food & Beverage, Reservations, Revenue Management, Lodging, and Mountain Operations-to ensure seamless execution of group programs.
  • Conduct impactful client site tours and host familiarization trips that inspire confidence and conversion.
  • Leverage Alterra Mountain Company partnerships when appropriate to expand conference and event reach.
  • Respond promptly to all inbound leads and RFPs with tailored solutions and timely follow-up.
  • Make consistent outbound sales calls and perform outreach to generate new business and uncover incremental opportunities.
  • Write compelling proposals and presentations that resonate with client needs and align with brand positioning.
  • Negotiate and finalize contracts with a strategic approach to maximize value and mitigate risk.
  • Maintain an effective balance of time spent on outbound calls, sales trips, proposals, site tours, client networking, and internal coordination.
  • Log all sales activity and maintain accurate records in Salesforce; utilize reports and dashboards to manage pipeline and performance.


Competencies and Job Requirements:
  • Communication: Able to communicate effectively in writing and verbally across all levels of the organization. Able to effectively present information to management, employees, and customers.
  • Organization: Demonstrate ability to proactively prioritize needs, put first things first, and effectively manages resources and time. Excellent organizational and problem solving skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Reasoning Ability: Able to make independent judgments which have considerable impacts on the organization. Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
  • Working knowledge of computers including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access)
  • Travel is required.


Education and Experience:
  • 4-year College Degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of Conference sales experience
  • Experience working closely with internal clients to produce results
  • Familiarity with destination sales, prefer experience selling Lake Tahoe

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, see, and hear. Must be capable of walking or standing 50% or more of a normal 8 hour work shift. Must be capable of occasionally carrying, lifting, pushing or pulling up to 20lbs. Must capable of occasionally squatting, bending, kneeling, reaching, and balancing, able to climb ladders and shovel snow. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions:

Indoor/Outdoor: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee will frequently be exposed to extreme cold, wetness and/or humidity, and occasionally blizzards and extreme storm conditions.

Hazardous Materials/Noise: The noise level in the work place is usually moderate.
