What we're looking for
Education: High school diploma (or equivalent work experience) is required Experience: Minimum 2-3 years of laboratory or inventory management experience is required IATA & CFR certification for handling and shipping dangerous goods (or willingness to obtain upon hire) Experience working with SOPs and regulatory compliance in a lab setting. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently. Must have a Valid Driver's license and reliable transportation Collaboration Tool: Microsoft Teams experience preferred Ability to work on-site daily in Pittsburgh, PA. Willingness to travel to NYC annually for audits (travel expenses covered by Avantor). Strong organizational and communication skills. Proficiency with inventory management systems and Microsoft Outlook. Familiarity with chemical safety and hazardous materials handling. Ability to manage multiple storage locations and prioritize tasks effectively.
How you will thrive and create an impact Avantor's Lab and Production Services team is a crucial part of the Avantor Services group serving over 500 customers in biopharma, pharmaceutical, educational, industrial, and high-tech industries with customizable, flexible solutions and end-to-end laboratory operations support. In this role you will:
Manage inventory of chemicals and consumables across 8 storage areas (7 in the main facility and 1 at a secondary site), ensuring materials are properly stocked, tracked, and compliant with safety regulations. Maintain daily on-site presence at the main facility in Pittsburgh, PA. Conduct annual audits at the NYC lab, including travel and hotel stay (covered by Avantor). Oversee remote inventory management for the NYC lab, including order approvals, quoting, and email communications. Serve as the primary point of contact for inventory & chemical needs, coordinating with internal teams and external vendors. Ensure accurate documentation and reporting of inventory levels and transactions. Review and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) annually. Ship and receive hazardous materials in compliance with IATA and CFR regulations.
