The UCSF Pulmonary Hypertension Program offers evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary hypertension patients, a rare highly complex cardiopulmonary condition in a high acuity outpatient population. The UCSF Pulmonary Hypertension Comprehensive Care Center is a nationally recognized program that has demonstrated superior ability to care for patients with this complex condition and are making important contributions to research.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $95.69 - $124.10 (Hourly Rate). Required Qualifications Graduation from a California Board of Registered Nursing approved or verified school of nursing with a master's degree in nursing or a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP).
- One (1) year Ambulatory Cardiology NP experience or a combination of Ambulatory and Inpatient Cardiology NP experience (ie: pulmonary hypertension, congenital heart disease, valve and structural heart, and heart failure).
- Independent NP experience with direct care of pulmonary hypertension patients including management of parenteral prostacyclin therapy infusion initiation and transitions.
- Flexibility to work with various schedules as required
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced cardiac assessment skills - reviewing EKGs, heart sounds, and recognizing signs of acute and chronic cardiovascular conditions.
- Understanding cardiac procedures and tests - stress testing, echocardiography, cardiac catheterization, Holter monitoring, etc.
- Knowledge of cardiovascular pharmacology - understanding cardiac medications, their interactions, and side effects (e.g., anticoagulants, beta blockers, ACE inhibitors).
- Management of ACHD and chronic cardiac conditions - such as heart failure, coronary artery disease, hypertension, arrhythmias, and hyperlipidemia.
- Ambulatory Epic experience in the Advance Practice Provider role
License/Certification
- California driver's license (CDL) if required for position.
- Current national certification from an accepted certifying agency and provide by first day of work.
- Accepted Certifications for this position:.
- Current and active RN and NP and Furnishing license in California.
- Complete a BRN recognized graduate master's degree program as a nurse practitioner.
- Complete Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration with Schedules 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, and 5 registered to a California address.
- Submit enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through credentialing by first clinical day. CCS enrollment as appropriate for pediatric environments.
- Current AHA BLS.
- Current AHA ACLS.
- State regulation requires that you have a supervising physician to practice.
- Incumbents with less than 6 months of NP experience will be hired as a Nurse Practitioner 1.
UCSF Medical Center and Campus requires certain healthcare providers to be credentialed. In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day. Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days but can vary.
