Job Title: Journeyman Project Manager
Clearance Required: Public Trust
Work Location: Hybrid in Alexandria, VA

Alpha Omega is seeking a qualified and experienced Journeyman Project Manager to lead complex IT projects from inception to completion. In this role, you will oversee all aspects of project planning, execution, and delivery while ensuring alignment with business objectives. You will manage multiple projects simultaneously, provide strategic direction, and mentor junior project managers. Acting as the primary liaison between business and technical teams, you will ensure that projects are completed on time, within scope, and on budget.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Develop comprehensive project plans (scope, schedule, budget, resources) aligned to stakeholder objectives
  • Track milestones, deliverables, and critical path; proactively manage changes and dependencies
  • Analyze complex technical issues-architecture, integration, performance-and architect innovative, cost-effective solutions
  • Coordinate with engineers, architects, and operations teams to validate technical designs and ensure quality
  • Champion best-practice frameworks (Agile Scrum, Waterfall, hybrid) and project-management tools (MS Project, JIRA, Trello)
  • Continuously improve workflows, templates, and reporting metrics
  • Develop and monitor project budgets, forecasts, and resource utilization
  • Author regular status reports, risk-mitigation plans, and executive summaries
  • Act as primary point of contact for clients, vendors, and senior leadership
  • Facilitate steering-committee meetings, requirements workshops, and post-implementation reviews
  • Conduct risk assessments across schedule, scope, technical, and financial dimensions
  • Implement contingency plans and escalate issues to maintain on-time, on-budget delivery


Required Qualifications:

Education:



  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.


Experience/Skills:



  • 7+ years of IT project management experience, with a proven track record of managing large, complex projects. Leadership experience is required.
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of IT systems, software development methodologies, cloud solutions, and project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Jira, Trello).
  • Knowledge: Expertise in project management principles, risk management, and IT infrastructure. Experience with Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid methodologies is preferred.


Soft Skills: Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.

Certification(s):



  • Certifications (Preferred): PMP (Project Management Professional), PRINCE2, or Agile certifications (e.g., Scrum Master, SAFe).


Salary and Benefit Information:

The likely salary range for this position is $96,500 - $99,013. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position and could fall outside of this range.
