Fox's adRise team is hiring a Senior Staff Data Engineer to help architect and scale the data platform powering our next-generation advertising solutions across digital and streaming platforms. This senior individual contributor role is focused on hands-on system design, development, and technical leadership. This role directly supports the Director of Data Engineering and will help guide the team's technical direction.

You'll work on systems that process billions of events and petabytes of data, enabling personalized, privacy-aware advertising experiences at scale. If you thrive on solving complex problems and want to shape the backbone of modern media advertising, we'd love to hear from you.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Help lead the design and implementation of scalable, reliable, and efficient data pipelines across various business domains.

  • Lead architectural decisions for batch and near-real-time data processing systems, balancing flexibility with long-term maintainability.

  • Contribute to the evolution of our data platform - from ingestion to consumption - with a strong emphasis on data quality, observability, and governance.

  • Ensure the proper documentation is maintained by the team and help to ensure standards are upheld in design and documentation

  • Work on systems handling high data volume and throughput, ensuring performance and fault tolerance at scale.

  • Drive best practices around schema design, data lifecycle management, and access control across environments.

  • Work cross-functionally with product managers, data scientists, and analytics teams to understand data needs and deliver high-impact solutions.

  • Mentor engineers through design guidance and code reviews, fostering technical growth within the team.

  • Help lead the definition and enforcement of development standards, design patterns, and operational practices across data services.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • 10+ years of experience building large-scale, high-volume data systems in cloud-native environments.

  • Experience mentoring engineers and leading architecture design

  • Experience implementing design and documentation standards across at least one team

  • Experience in ad-tech, media domains, particularly with ad sales pipelines, identity systems DMPs, SSPs, DSPs and other AdTech data flows.

  • Strong proficiency in distributed data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Flink, Beam), with production experience handling massive datasets.

  • Hands-on experience with Databricks or equivalent large-scale data platforms in the cloud (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, EMR, Redshift).

  • Proficiency in SQL and modern programming languages (e.g., Python, Scala, Java).

  • Strong foundation in data modeling, system design, and performance optimization.

  • Prior experience implementing data governance and access control frameworks.

  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to lead through influence in cross-functional environments.

NICE TO HAVE, BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER

  • Familiarity with real-time/streaming data architectures and event-driven pipelines.

  • Exposure to open data formats and cross-platform metadata/catalog strategies.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $179,000.00-215,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
