Job Summary
The manager of the Revenue Cycle team possesses a high degree of knowledge and expertise in Revenue Cycle analysis, trending, forecasting, and strategic/tactical planning based on healthcare industry benchmarks and market knowledge; works with operational and clinical management to understand and prioritize data and information requirements; optimizes the performance of enterprise business intelligence tools by defining and analyzing data to filter and index that add value to end users across the Revenue Cycle; researches new technology; develops business cases to support enterprise-wide business intelligence solutions; and manages the Funds Flow team that oversees physician reimbursement.
The manager applies advanced knowledge of Revenue Cycle business intelligence practices to lead a team that resolves highly complex problems requiring advanced analysis of variable factors to support operational efficiencies and strategic planning; position is expected to apply innovative methods to access, analyze, interpret, and provide information about revenue cycle; and is responsible for overseeing reporting and analysis for a variety of short and long term performance improvement projects using data sources such as Clarity, Cognos, APeX, and data warehouses (Scuba, UCAll, and DART). The incumbent leads a team responsible for implementing, managing, and maintaining a portfolio of tools and reports to provide accurate and relevant Revenue Cycle data and metrics that enable UCSF Health to run its businesses better and improve revenue cycle performance, such as increasing payments and decreasing revenue leakage.
This position also provides data and analysis to monitor compliance, initiate operational improvement initiatives, and track actual and expected targets for SOM Divisions Pro-Fee revenues. As a valued team player, the incumbent shares knowledge and expertise to best support the organization.
The incumbent is certified in Clarity Reporting in APeX to generate custom reports and analytical solutions for Revenue Cycle Stakeholders, including but not limited to SOM-Clinical Practice Leaders and Billing Operations, and has expert abilities in SQL. This position has responsibility for developing, overseeing, and updating data tables; retrieving and maintaining data from different systems (ex. Clarity, Cognos, APeX, data warehouses, and Decision Support Systems); analyzing and preparing practical recommendations to find opportunities or answer critical questions posed by the Director, leaders in Revenue Cycle, and leaders in Operations.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $118,300 - $268,900 (Annual Rate). Department Description The Revenue Cycle Analytics Team at UCSF's IT is a highly skilled and collaborative group specializing in revenue cycle analysis, forecasting, and strategic planning. Working together, the team prioritizes data requirements, optimizes business intelligence tools, researches new technology, and develops solutions that enhance revenue cycle performance. Their responsibilities include reporting and analysis, compliance monitoring, and providing valuable insights to support decision-making.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
- 10+ years relevant business intelligence experience in a healthcare setting or related field
- 3+ years supervising healthcare or healthcare-related staff who perform analytics
- Certification:
- Proficient in all MS Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Access), BI/database applications, and reporting tools
- Proficient in Revenue Cycle for both Hospital and Professional Billing
- Proficient in SQL
- Proficient in Tableau
- Strong knowledge of business intelligence principles, concepts, and methodologies.
- Proven ability to plan, organize, assign, and delegate work, and effectively prioritize.
- Ability to effectively manage and influence professionals. Ability to create and maintain a climate of collaboration and trust.
- Ability to analyze information, think conceptually, and formulate effective solutions.
- Ability to work effectively with senior management on operational and performance issues. Ability to build relationships and mentor staff.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to communicate technical language and layman's terms.
- Proven ability to deliver presentations to large and/or diverse audiences.
- Proven conflict resolution skills.
