CBA - CALIBRATION / METROLOGY Metrology Technician (NASA Armstrong Edwards, CA)

This position entails Radio Frequency (RF) calibration, various electronic calibration and recording of those results into databases Metrack and NAMIS.



  • Determines test procedure to be used. Familiar with GPIB addressing and use of automated calibration practices. Create data templates using MetCal Manual.
  • Evaluates vendor calibration results in accordance with ANSI ISO/IEC 17025 and ANSI/NCSL Z540 compliance, as well as NASA and site policies and procedures.
  • Familiar with and be able to use electronic standards: oscilloscope, multimeters, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, electronic loads, counters and video generators.
  • Familiar with and able to employ basic hand tools: torque wrenches
  • Must understand measurement assurance program concepts.


Provide initial acceptance testing, routine maintenance, calibration, cleaning and status tagging of various NASA furnished standards, precision test equipment. hand tools, instruments, scales, gauges and other equipment to determine performance characteristics.

Creates records in document control systems that support calibration and measurement systems.

Reports safety hazards, potentially hazardous situations and close calls to the supervisor. Assists supervisor to identify and eliminate un-safe conditions.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:



  • Valid Driver's License - required
  • Ability to travel - required. (Less than 25%)
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate's degree - preferred
  • Experience:
  • Three (3) to Five (5) years' experience using Metrack, MetCal and NAMIS-preferred
  • Five (5) to Seven (7) years' experience using RF Electronics standards and various electronic testing equipment.


Clearance: Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain US Secret Clearance - required, active secret - preferred

Physical Demands:
This maintenance classification activity is usually accomplished in an indoor workshop environment. Activities may include climbing, standing, stooping, bending, pushing, kneeling, stretching, and walking demands. May require lifting of objects whose weight normally will not exceed 50 lbs. Special vision abilities required to perform this job are close and peripheral vision, and acceptable depth perception.

Work Environment:
The diversity of working conditions range from an environment where there is little or no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject the individual to severe changes in temperature, wind, rain, etc. May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards, exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and electrical shock hazards exist.

Hourly $44.65
