Position Summary
The Strategic Data Solutions Lead defines and drives the technical vision for HED's enterprise data ecosystem. This role leads the implementation of a scalable medallion data architecture, ensuring that systems are interoperable, secure, and aligned with the business's need for insights, analytics capabilities and serves as a senior integrator of data, design thinking, and innovation.
Essential Functions
- Define enterprise data architecture strategy and roadmap, including data lakehouse, warehousing, and medallion data models.
- Evaluate and oversee the implementation of enterprise-scale tools such as Databricks, Snowflake, Microsoft Purview, and Azure Synapse.
- Lead integration of structured and unstructured data sources from internal tools, platforms, and third-party systems.
- Develop governance and stewardship practices that ensure data quality, lineage, privacy, and security.
- Partner with AI, analytics, and development teams to deliver scalable platforms for reporting, modeling, and intelligent automation.
- Guide system integration and engineering efforts across Power Platform, Azure services, and HED's proprietary applications.
- Translate business and technical requirements into system architecture and development plans.
- Mentor developers, analysts, and platform specialists in best practices related to data architecture and infrastructure.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field.
- 8+ years of experience in data architecture, platform engineering, or enterprise systems.
- Deep expertise with Microsoft Azure ecosystem, Databricks, data lakehouse patterns, and Power Platform integration.
- Strong understanding of enterprise data governance, security models, and metadata management using tools like Microsoft Purview.
- Experience managing data infrastructure and development projects in a cross-functional environment.
- Exceptional technical documentation, communication, and system design skills.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to effectively communicate in writing and verbally via phone, video conferencing, and in-person.
- Visual acuity to perform responsibilities.
