Summary: Responsibilities: Plans, develops and implements the customer-focused and coordinated delivery of medical staff services in support of the members of the medical staff at all Brown University Health Hospitals. Collaborate with others on the implementation of changes to operations ensuring optimum productivity and efficiency for office-related changes in the Medical Staff Services Department. Assists in the Medical Executive Committee process and keeps the required documentation to support the Medical Staff Bylaws and all regulatory requirements including minutes to the monthly meetings. Provides administrative oversight and project planning to the Medical Staff Associations, Executive Committees and other medical staff committees in consultation with the Director of Medical Staff Services, Staff Association presidents and committee chairs. Provides administrative support and project management support to the Credentials Committees in consultation with the chair of the credential committees at all BUH Hospitals. Provide training and guidance to incoming Credentials Committee members. May provide direct supervision to members of the Medical staff services department in conjunction with other Medical staff services management. .Interviews prospective employees and recommend selection. Trains, assigns work, and assesses employee's performance. Provides oversight to other departmental staff members.In collaboration with the Director of Medical Staff Services makes decisions regarding employee compensation, disciplinary actions, employee appraisals and team coordination. Works with hospital leadership and departmental chiefs of service on ongoing and focused provider performance evaluation documentation to ensure compliance with Joint Commission standards Plans, develops and implements the customer-focused and coordinated delivery of credentialing services in support of the members of the medical staff at affiliated sites. Responds appropriately in difficult or sensitive situations, educating personnel in the techniques and methods of quality customer service. Coordinates the ongoing collaborative, multi-site assessment of the delivery of medical staff services. Manages the implementation of changes to operations to ensure optimum productivity and efficiency. Develops, maintains positive relationships and communicates regularly with external customers along with internal such as physicians, advanced practice professionals, support staff, and various department administrative personnel to expedite information exchange and resolution of common issues regarding departmental policies and procedures. Assure consistency and compliance with regulatory and Joint Commission requirements, individual hospital bylaws, rules and regulations and procedures of the hospital(s). Maintains an advanced professional's level of knowledge and expertise in leading edge developments in the field of medical staff services, their administration and accreditation by participating in ongoing self-development, independent study and professional activities and affiliations. Works with the Medical Staff Services Management Team to improve department operations. Corresponds directly to appropriate personnel regarding these issues. Discusses issues and information with appropriate supervisor, department chief, and others as required. Evaluates effectiveness of medical staff services credentialing processes and office systems. Reviews practice, develops and implements changes necessary to achieve efficient and effective use of resources and to assure full compliance with applicable standards. Establishes cross functional support for the Medical Staff Services team in the event of extended leave of absence or any influx of activity impacting normal workloads to ensure uninterrupted workflow with full knowledge of the credentialing process, bylaws and regulatory requirements for the Medical Staffs of Brown University Health as well as a comfortable level of knowledge in credentialing and other software supported by the department. Communicates effectively verbally and in writing to assure support staff have the information required in department policies and procedures. Facilitates communications between MSS team, hospital personnel and provider groups regarding credentialing issues. Evaluates effectiveness of database policies and procedures and develops and implements changes to enhance standardization of data input, process changes and maintenance. Responsible for high level statistical data reporting and analysis that are required by various departments within Lifespan affiliates, and to outside organizations. Attends Meetings as assigned. Performs other duties as assignedOther information: EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree or equivalent job experience required. Certification by the National Association of Medical Staff Services (CPCS and/or CPMSM). EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 5 years' relevant experience in a multi-entity medical staff services/credentialing environment Successful experience demonstrating the use of interpersonal skills necessary to communicate and gather information from all levels of personnel and the ability to handle highly confidential data in a secure and trustworthy manner. Analytical and organizational skills to effectively develop and maintain centralized credentialing systems and provider databases. Previous multi - entity system and supervisory experience preferred. High level of experience with credentialing systems working in a paperless or semiautomated environment. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft, Office 365 products, Adobe Pro, virtual meeting platforms and database experience. The ability to work with medical professionals, ability to deal with ambiguity, maintain confidentiality standards creativity, independent thinking and problem solving. Exhibit a high energy level and demonstrate the ability to work as a valuable contributor and collaborator. Work collaboratively and independently. Ability to multi-task, plan and prioritize a large volume of detail-oriented work in an independent manner Current knowledge of Joint Commission and CMS requirements, state regulations and credentialing processes. Continuing education in federal and regulatory education related to medical staff services as required. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Supervises up to 6 FTEs.
