Providers with the Division of Hospital Medicine provide comprehensive, patient-centered care for the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses at UW Health practice sites. They are also provided the opportunity to grow the next generation of physicians through hands-on instruction of residents, fellows, and medical students.

Our Division prides itself on building a team of empathetic and collaborative physicians who are dedicated to improving the field of Hospital Medicine through clinical and scholarly endeavors. Successful candidates will demonstrate not only their comprehensive clinical knowledge, but their ability to build trusting relationships with patients from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences. They will also be energized by a unique diversity of practice and the opportunity to work on a highly skilled multidisciplinary team. We seek candidates who are equally compassionate and comprehensive in their care, and enthusiastic to teach this approach to groups of dedicated and eager learners.


  • This position is full or part time, 20%-100% FTE

  • This position requires work to be completed onsite, at a designated campus work location.

  • The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law every four years.


Applicants for this position will be considered for the titles listed in this posting. The title is determined by the experience and qualifications of the finalist.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Clinical track duties: The incumbent will be expected to provide clinical patient care, admitting and managing hospital inpatients. The incumbent will also provide medical consultation within the hospital; teach residents, medical students, fellows in relation to patients on the hospitalist service; and participate in system-wide quality improvement projects at UW Health approved locations.

  • CHS track duties: The incumbent will be expected to provide clinical patient care, admitting and managing hospital inpatients. The incumbent will also provide medical consultation within the hospital; teach residents, medical students, fellows in relation to patients on the hospitalist service; and participate in system-wide quality improvement projects at UW Health approved locations. Participation in research endeavors of the Division expected.

  • The successful candidate will teach medical students, residents, and fellows. The successful applicant will participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.

Compensation:

Negotiable, 12 months

Required Qualifications:

  • Wisconsin Medical Licensure required by the start date.

  • Must be Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine by the start date of position. Eligible certifications include American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM), American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine (AOBIM), American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM), or American Osteopathic Board of Family Medicine (AOBFM).


Preferred Qualifications:

  • For an appointment at Clinical Associate Professor rank on CT Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CT Track.

  • For an appointment at Associate Professor rank on CHS Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CHS Track.


Education:
  • MD or DO, or equivalent required.
